Default Belt alignment

Didn't want to highjack Hotrods thread, so I started another one (although we're apparently having the same problem)
I'd like you guys opinion on my next move
I was having alignment problems with the procharger idler(Stage II)pulley, so I turned the blower pulley around so that the "raised shoulder" was toward the blower. This moved the belt almost to the center, when the car is NOT running, BUT it moved the belt over to where it was rubbing the water pump. I tried adding washers (shims) IN BETWEEN the brackets, and it moved the pulley off of he water pump, but back to the edge of the idler pulley.
Next; I removed the washers I had installed as shims, pulled off the blower mounting bracket and made a 1/8 inch "spacer" plate to go between the bracket and head (I have Dart heads if that could possibly matter) Now, the belt is off of the water pump (although it could afford to go over a little more to ride the pulley better) and approx. 1/4" from the edge of the blower pulley when the car is OFF, but when it is running, the belt goes back to the edge of the idler pulley and rubs.
All other pulleys and idlers look like they are running perfectly, so I am thinking of making a thicker spacer to put between the head and bracket
Any suggestions

i went through the same thing as you. everyone kept telling me to buy a laser align tool. i did. now when i assemble everything together, from swapping cams, i'm gonna use that sucker.
that will probably be most people's advise... to buy the laser align tool. i found the "gates" brand tool pretty reasonable. pm me and i'll give you the site.

Dont waste your time on washers or spacers unless you have a laser alignment tool.

"IF" you want to borrow mine, i"l loan it to you if you promise to send it right back as soon as your done. Just pay shipping both ways. Probably 20 bucks total..

But you have to promise to use it and ship it right back. The last member I loaned it to kept it for over a month and left it on so it killed the battery. I had to beg him to ship it back to me.

Lemme know, and i'll ship it out to ya..

Thanks a lot. If I borrow it, I will DEFINITLY take car of it AND return it. Before I do though, I want to try out what I have.
I had made a 1/8" "spacer plate" ( mentioned in the thread above) and it seem to help, but not completely fix the issue. I then made ANOTHER 1/8" plate (I didn't have a 1/4") and installed it.
NOW; The belt is running DEAD ON the water pump pulley, and approx. 1/4" from the back (It was on the edge of the front) of the blower idler.
I have yet to drive it to see if there are any issues with the belt rubbing, but revving the motor to 2500, it seems to run pretty true on the idler, and dead on the water pump pulley .
Thanks for the offer, and I'll keep that as a great option if this doesnt fix the problem.
