Default Procharger Install

Need advice on the Procharger Stage II kit I plan to install on my 1997 C5.
I already have a 160 degree thermastat, and a Magna Flow exhaust. Thinking of 7psi, will my stock LS1 be able to handle it?, do I need higher capacity fuel pump?, and I thought that you could not reprogram the PCM with a hand held programmer, but have to remove the PCM and have it re-programmed for the supercharger, any advice by anyone having installed a Stage II kit would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Marty

7PSI should be fine, definitely need to upgrade fuel system with AT LEAST a BAP and injectors though. Depends on the handheld, don't know about all of them, but i would strongly recommend you have it tuned on a dyno or on the street by a pro.

If you buy the ProCharger Stage II kit, it will come with a Diablo Predator pre-loaded with a tune for their addon. This is what I started out with; but did not stay there. I then upgraded my intake, throttle body, and MAF. I also upped my injectors to 60#. I have installed custom fuel rails, fuel lines, a Racetronix harness, and a Racetronics fuel pump.

This power stuff is too addictive! Now, my stock A4 tranny has died. I am replacing it with an RPM stage V tranny, and an RPM 3.73 Diff.

The spending will never stop!

I agree with the guys above;
-you will need additional fuel thus a Boost a Pump or higher flow pump
-you will need 40 lb injectors unless you go to higher boost or more power upgrades
-you also need to go to cooler spark plugs, I run NGK TR6
-to get optimum performance you should have the car professionally tuned, hand held is ok but will keep the power levels down as a precaution...
have fun, cheers

Remember that the Handheld "MUST" be specifically for the ProCharger or it will not work. You cannot just buy or have someone give you a handheld and slap it in and have it work

Best bet to keep your vette safe is to have a Professional install a tune on a DYNO, this will ensure you have the right peramiters set and not blow the motor

7 PSI will be safe on your Vette, do as suggested above:

A new kit should come with at least 42lb injectors

Get NGK TR6 plugs gapped at .35

Get a Boost A Pump (BAP) a Kenne Bell or MAGNAVOLT etc.

You could also get a LPE Fuel Pump - but for your set-up ot should be good enough with the BAP installed into the stock pump.

I would also suggest some Headers too, these will help run the exhaust out of the motor.

Also on the '97-98's the MAF tables are small and run out of peramiters so you might talk to your tuner and get a 2 BAR MAP sensor (This is called a Speed Density Tune) witch will enable him to tune it with more paramiters and keep it safe as well as get you the most HP for your money

We slapped a ProCharger Stge II on my friends STOCK '04 Coupe MN6 and he laid down 525 RWHP with 9+ PSI of BOOST, 3.85" pulley, LT Headers, Hi-Flow Cats, X-Pipe, TUBI Exhaust and METHANOL Injection and a MAGNAVOLT BAP

Thanks,Matt

From my experience I would upgrade your injectors to 60lbs and buy a high end high flow fuel system...this will benefit you if you upgrade your charger or new engine....buy a meth kit...small investment with big returns...saves you money in the long run.

Yes, I agree. My ProCharger came with 38 # injectors. It wasn't long before I upgraded to 60# injectors. I've upgraded my fuel pump to a Racetronix pump and harness, and I am STILL dropping 10 PSI on WOT! I am fixing to upgrade my fuel lines next; and add a return line. I will also move the pressure regulator up front. If I had it to do over again, I would hav ebought a dual pump system.

You can start out with the ProCharger tuner kit, which cost less and does not include the injectors and does not include the tune. Then you can buy your own injectors and have it dyno tuned. I also recommend a fuel pump when adding forced induction.

The ProCharger complete system will work just fine for people who have a fairly stock Corvette, there is nothing wrong with going this route. 7 to 8 psi on a non forged engine will normally be just fine. We have done a lot of them for people who have no problems at all.

Here are a few of them.

Thanks to all who replied, and offered advise and info, I am having the crank pinned in two weeks, and will then order the Stage II complete kit. I will use the tune provided in the kit for a while and at some latter date have at it tuned on a dyno. I do not plan to do much more upgrades "COSTS MONEY", only those that will help make the most horsepower from just the supercharger itself. My main objective is to keep the car fairly stock and not decrease engine life or start having drive line problems.
Again Thanks for all your replays. Marty
