Default STS Questions..

1. How do you adjust / control the amount of boost on the STS system? I am half way through installing one on my 98'. I have the tune set up for 7 lbs, but I can't figure out how the boost level is controlled.

2. What do you do with the vacuum line that runs of the center part of the fuel rail up to the factory air bridge?

3. Where did you put the Air Inlet Temperature sensor?

Thanks

I control the boost with a manual boost controller that comes with the kit and it works just fine. I have it mounted under the rear differential near the 2 waste gates. I don't really understand what you are trying to describe about the vacuum line, take a picture of it and post it. The air intake temp sensor is mounted on my airbridge where it was stock.

Do you have the manual? I can send you a copy that I used when I installed mine on my own.

The boost is controled by the spring you select in your wastegate (either single or dual wastegates). You can further adjust your boost by using a controller, which effectively changes the pressure going to your wastegate, allowing more boost to be returned to your engine. But in the simplest setup, your wastegate will control how much boost pressure is released to the atmosphere and how much boost pressure is sent to your engine.

You must run a vacuum/boost line back to the wastegate to make it function correctly. I have a couple T's coming off of my brake booster line, which connects to my wastegate in back, to my BOV in front, and to my vacuum/boost gauge in my pillar pod.

Shoot me an email if you don't have the manual, I'll send it. cummins_don at emc com

Awesome guys, thanks for the response. I now have the boost controller in place. However; I took the intake manifold off so that I could remove the piping from the air pump (which was removed) and I have discovered a new problem. On the back of the intake manifold there is a port that connects to the brake booster, and a small vacuum port that mysteriously not connected to anything??? Also, on the left hand side of the engine, parallel to the fuel rail is a "thing" that seems to have a vacuum port that was also not attached to anything. Looks like I am putting the previous owners mess back together. Here are some picures of what I am faced with....

Rear of Intake Manifold. Disconnected vacuum port is on right side under electrical connnector..

This is the "thing" that I referred to. It is part of the fuel system, but on the top there is a vacuum port that was also disconnected. Should this port be connected to the port on the back of the intake manifold?

This picture is of the same "thing". The rubber L shaped connector was what I found attached to the vacuum port on the top, but it wasn't attached to anything.

And my final question. I am running an STS Twin Turbo. This fuel pressure regulator was originally connected to my factory air bridge. Where should it now be connected to? The vacuum port on the back of the intake manifold? The brake booster?

Thanks in advance!!!

On the back of the intake manifold the large diameter pipe is for the brake booster vacuum. The small rubber 90 deg. elbow goes to a 1/8" hard plastic line that controls the A/C / heater door.

Hmmm...interesting. Does that hard line go downwards on the passenger side rear of the engine?

Thanks
