Default digital boost gauge sensor location question??

i installed a digital boost gauge and i put the sensor in the brake booster log, where the blowoff valve and bap taps into, and i get no reading??? so, i then clamped a hose to the sensor and ran it to the vaccum connector coming from the throttle body. now i get a reading. it seems to read slow but at least i get a reading.
why would it not register when the sensor is plugged into the vacuum log???

could it be the map sensor for the gauge is on its way out? - mine is hooked to log on booster and works fine.

possible. it has less than 500 miles though? anyway way of testing those, other than for continuity?
