Default Fuel Pump issues?

I have a 99 maggie with an upgraded fuel system (do not know excactly which one) and for the past 9 months I have owned it has always been 60psi. I recently had to do valve springs and got it running today, took it for a drive and forgot to hookup the fuel pressure gauge. When I got to the gas station I hooked up the wire for the guage. When I went to leave it would not start (no pressure). I got it towed home. When I got it home the tow truck driver needed the mileage so I put the key in and it went right to 55 psi and started and ran.

In the boost a pump setup is there a second pump? a larger pump in the tank? Amplified power to a stock pump?

What should I do to test different parts of my system, or find out what system I have?

I think you should test your ground wires

55-60 will be fine. Not sure you even need a BAP. The old MSD voltage boosters were less than reliable. I wouldn't be surprised if it was going out.

not being familiar with those setups, where are they typically mounted?

Also when they go out do they stop working at boost, or does it interfere with normal oporation?
