Default C6 rear diff?

I have seen some post about people upgrading to C6 rear diffs? Do you have to purchase a kit to change over? Are they better / stronger? I need to get a new diff soon and just looking at my options.

Well if you go to the C6 Z06 diff then you have to change the mainshaft in the trans.
When I bought my new setup trans and rear from RPM I went with a C6 Z mainshaft and
RPM machined the stock C5 diff to work with it. Hope this helps.

Depending on the year and the diff you are looking at it can be a bolt-in or you need to change the cradle.

My advice is to build your present diff, add the good parts and be done with it.

Call us on Monday if you want a quote.

My buddy just swap a 08 C6 Z06 trans, diff, and cradle into a 03 C5 Z06 and the problem is that the C5 torque tube is shorter than the C6 tube. He still use the cradle just moved the location of the trans mounts. The swap came out very clean I may have to do this further down the road.

It is HIGHLY reccomended to do the swap. The strength difference is amazing..

Basically, heres what you have to do:
  • Purchase a 06-09 C6 Rear Diff (Not a Z06 unless you want to swap the main shaft)
  • Purchase a C6 Rear suspension cradle
  • Purchase C6 rear spring & Control Arms (Unless you have coilovers. Then you can keep your stock stuff)
  • Purchase a set of offset tranny mounts (We had these made by Pfadt when we did our first conversion)
  • Purchase a C6 transmission tailhousing
Other than this, its a 100% bolt in application.

As far as parts goes, WITH a built RPM transmission, your looking at right about $3,555.00

Hope this helps with your decision.. Lemme Know if you need the parts. With the exception of the Diff, we have everything else in stock. Although the springs are used. We can do the complete install for 3995.00 Installed

Yup....

But you dont need a new transmission. Just the rear tailhousing piece. Its a direct swap out.
Plus, thats not a stock Diff. That is a built RPM diff.

If you're making significant power and like to use it, you might consider the T6060 and diff. from an 08-09 Z06. I can get those with the cradle, spring, lower control arms, fittings, adapters etc for ~5k shipped. Bigger mainshaft, bigger tranny gears, better bearings, larger ring and pinion, better differential geometry and integrated pumps and cooling.
