Default Exhaust question...

I've still got the factory Ti's with a bypass, and have thought about going to something else, to free up some HP, what are you running and how loud are they?

I'm to the point that noise isn't going to bother me, I just don't want to give up that HP next time I goto the dyno..

Thanks for your input

Nick

Nick if you want louder then go with some BORLA's!

But IMHO! I would not change anything, I would leave the TI's!

I have 701 RWHP and 582 RWTQ on straight C5 Z06 TI's (No Bypass mod either )

Thanks,Matt

I'm in the same boat, I don't really want the extra noise, but I'm going to turn it up from the current 700rw/13psi to 18-20psi, and was wondering how much HP I would be leaving on the table by running thru the stock mufflers w/bypass

Hey Bro-I real like the Magnaflow's part # 16732. My car made 920 to wheels with them-pulled them off and it still made 920. There not "tooo" loud-there just perfect. I sold a bunch of these to guys on the board-check the other C5 sections. I'll try to get you an idle clip of them this week. They sound "real tuff".

Let me know if you need a price-I can get very good pricing on them.

I like the LG Motorsports Pro Long Tube headers (made by Borla) combined with Borla Stingers

I have the Corsa Pace Car cat-back. It is fairly quiet under normal cruising, but they really scream on WOT!

To add a bit to the thread..

Current setup is Dynamaxx headers, gutted cats, ti's with bypass

I'm going to try to crank this thing to 900+ and might just see if I can do it without ditching the stock mufflers

If you don't care about the sound when you want some free flowing exhaust, you might consider electric cutouts. I am using some DMH low profiles and love the ability to get rather nasty with the press of a button. When they're closed, I'm running AR long tubes into some Corsa Pace Cars. You can see a short vid that I took in my garage of the cutouts at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDzFPRl5V3A

As for my car: 770 RWHP & 687 RWTQ. I have not run the car on a dyno with the cutouts open. That would be interesting to compare

Here is a short vid I took, running the car on the strip with the cutouts open: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJgLN09nQBk

Here it is on the strip with the cutouts closed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7epzNbRbnM

My buddy has an ls7 427 with LG long tubes and stock Ti's and picked up right at 40 hp when he installed cutouts in the system .

I will be putting my car back together in the next couple weeks with AR long tubes and Ti's with the DMH cutouts .

DMH cutouts with a 10" extension pipe sounds so bad *** but after working in a machine shop all day i dont want
to listen to the loud pipes on my way home .

since the muffler is at the very end of the exhaust system its going to have the smallest HP gain. Thats why a lot of people don't see an increase with the already free flowing Ti exhaust bypass mod.

If you don't already have LT's and an X-pipe you REALLY should do that mod before you switch the Ti's. Running HFC or an off-road pipe will also pickup power over the stock cats.
