Default sheetmetal intakes

Who here has a sheetmetal intake?

Who made yours?

What hood do you have on your car?

I want one and I'm shopping.

That is a carb style intake with a sheetmetal elbow.

I don't know bro-it's your money and all but do you really think you need one?

Honestly 900 rwhp with a LS6 and 75mm TB isn't much of a restriction with any of the big centris infront of it.

Just my opinion bro-don't forget the KISS principal.

I don't need one on this car but I could see needing it in the future. Same principle as my heads. I didn't neeeed 6 bolt 245s but for the next go 'round with an LSx block they'll be nice.

I have a feeling that they are going to perform nicely both at the track and when it's sitting next to the other guy's Vette at a show n' shine.

Will that elbow clear a stock hood ? Doesn't look like it , I have an RK Sport hood , I may be swapping out my LS6 intake in the future to a sheetmetal for more accurate distribution to the cylinders .

Yes, I am "El_Diablo" on ls1tech. I considered it but I also have to factor in an aftermarket hood and all the prep/paint that adds to the price. I'm not convinced that it would save me much over custom sheetmetal intake.

LB. Nice. Details man, details!!! Dunno if it's my monitor but it looks like a brand name across the top. I can't make it out. Do you have the stock hood? I'd really like to keep my stock hood.

well, I've sent emails to Beck, Hogan, and Precision Metalcraft. Hope to hear something back soon. I'd just call them up but it's not exactly convenient in my neck of the world.

You guys posting up with these intakes, if you don't want to post details would you mind PMing me?

Who built it?
Hood? (stock or other)
Pricing?

I realize most are in the $2-3k range so you arent' going to surprise me. Just want to know specifically from you guys that have been through this already.

Yes, this is the Wilson Billet Bank intake manifold. They are very high priced 3K. It fits under the stock hood !

As you can see it is a little more manifold than what you expect from Back or Hogan

the wilson intake might not make more power but with that twin turbo top mount that engine is all power and bling

very nice!

I'd like to see plastic and carbon fiber intakes with this design.

doesn't the ls6 intake "lean out" #7 pretty bad under boost???

hopefully a straight port would help. on the turbo buicks we used an RJC "flow restrictor" plate to even out the air flow. very slight restriction and it cured the tendancy to lean out the #5 cyl on the buzzin half duzzin.

Pretty sure Nitrous Outlet has an elbow that'll clear stock hood on a carb intake.

Well using my detective skills and the infinite power of the internet..I found that Wilson billet manifold on Wilson's website..haha. I had assumed that it was a one off piece built specifically for your engine but I was wrong. It's a limited production unit.

I wonder how it would compare in side by side testing to a one-off manifold from the other guys like Beck, Hogan, and Precision-Metalcraft? Or even their own 92mm FAST manifold? (ideally the sheetmetals would all be around the same height for fitment)

So far I've received a message back from Precision saying he'd love to work on one for me. Still waiting on the other guys.
