one tune....
Car has engine mods ( heads/cam/ intake/etc ) yielding 400 RWHP. 390 differential.............Car also has 100 shot.
The question is, can a tuner use one tune so the car performs optimally both N/A and on nitrous.
With such a small shot, does it make sense to have 2 tunes, one for NA
and one for nitrous, with a control in the car to switch tunes based upon if the car is running NA or running on nitrous.
So.......can one tune handle my car or do I need 2 separate tunes ?
Unless you plan on using the N2O a LOT, I would just do one good safe tune not "pushing" the timing. If you are going to run MORE than 100hp in the future, you might need to pull some timing.
I personally used a timing tuner set to pull 4* with a 125 hp shot and never had any issues.
HPTuners tuners can use a resistor/relay box inline with the IAT in combination with tuning to provide optimal N/A timing and fueling and can pull timing at WOT when a nitrous system is armed. In 01-up cars WOT fueling can be manipulated custom to your nitrous to help fine tune as well.
EFILive tuners can use COS5 and provide a grounded input to the PCM to use custom timing and fueling while the nitrous is active also while not affecting the N/A tune.
I don't know that all of them do this or know how, you just need to talk to them up front and find out the approach that they use. If your shot is 125 or less, it may not make enough of an impact to your N/A tune to warrant doing a setup mentioned above.

Thax for the feedback fella's.
I think what I am reading is......due to the fact that I only have 100 shot, the best approach is to tune the car to maximize NA performance ; that by doing this
my nitrous performance will not suffer and be very acceptable.
For a 100-shot, I usually tune a car like normal and if it's stock SCR, I pull about 2 degrees. You can't feel the difference (which is often 2-5 rwhp) but the setup will be ready for the squeeze.

I got it from both ends...... blowtorch and frost.
Both you guys sound like you know what you're talkingabout and it seems like you are both on the same wave lenght. This builds my confidence that I will be doing the right thing, which is to have the tuner tune to extract maximum performance NA.
Thanks again, as I did not know the best approach to take and now I do.
