Default What will it make?

Long story short, I blew up my stock shortblock back in may; so what does any self respecting horsepower junkie do? Ship the car to ECS and tell them to make it faster!

So, I'm taking bets on what she will make (for reference, she made ~495 rwhp, ~490 lbs on the stock motor with the ECS Novi 2000 kit). Here are the specs:

Forged ECS 346
Novi 2000
ARH Longtubes
ECS Blower Cam
Standard valve job on the stock heads

Nothing fancy, but I'm hoping for something north of 550. I know I dont have meth on it, but I hate the thought of the meth pump dying and my motor flying apart.

So lets here it guys? Any guesses on power?

You can tune the car to drop the timing if you lose the meth, so that's not an issue.
You can make "north of 550" without the meth though. Nobody could tell you better than the guys doing the work.

The guys doing the work are notorious for underestimation. I think Chris told me he expected about 450 ponies out of the kit on my stock motor back in November Personally, i subscribe to the under promise over deliver mantra as well, but I'd like to see what everyone else is seeing.

I didn't realize that you could tune the car to pull timing in the event of a pump failure. Hmmm, I might just have to call ECS and order up some meth.

Three things -

1. What's it going to have for fuel?

2. You don't need meth to make north of 700rwhp so no worries.

3. If you're running enough meth and your fuel pump fails or an injector fails you can blow your motor.

Just some food from the other side of the table.

Stock fuel system (Whatever comes with the ECS SC600 kit). Didn't have the cash this go around for a real fuel system upgrade.

I think its got 60# injectors and a BAP.

With that, I guess 580-600rwhp.

I can supply an HPtuners log of a car running 13.xx:1 AFR at WOT for a full 1/4 mile with no meth, but on a meth reliant tune and not one registered knock. Knock sensors tested before and after the runs.

WOW. 13:1 sounds pretty scary on a blown car. But the real proof is zero knock.

Dammit, I've said no to drugs for so long.....

What year and model is your car? The base kit sc600 will make 13-14 lbs of boost with no restrictor. With the ecs cam and meth you could easily make 650-700 rwhp! I would just listen to Doug or Chris and go with what they suggest...they will not steer you wrong

Depending on how much you/ECS wants to push the car with only a BAP/Fuel Pump and 60lb injectors, you can EASILY make 650rwhp.

Just for reference on fuel system, on stock bottom end WITH meth, 60# injectors, KB BAP and LPE Fuel Pump, I was making 725rwhp with ECS blower cam.

Thanks guys. I'll give Doug a ring in the morning and see what he thinks, but its good to know that I'm not out of my mind hoping to see something around the 600 mark.

I'm going to tell him to play it a little safe since I'm pretty much tapped out on cash at this point and dont want to go "motor shopping" again any time soon!
