Default Tire advice

I have one 345/30/18 BFG DR and a new one is about $400 little less. Two new MTs 345s are about $600.

I've never run either and don't drag much at all. I do play and the Nitto 315s give me some traction but it could be better. Any advice. I'm already minitubbed and just got my 18X11.5 inch HREs back so I wanna go out and play.

The MT will give you better traction. They are very sticky. However, they are not safe if you get caught in a rain shower. The nittos actually give you the best "all around" tire, IMO.

Me personally, I have BFG KDW II's on mine and when it comes time to play, the ET Street Radials go on

What the heck is a Nitto 315? Did you mean to mention a specific tire out of their rather extensive selection?

It's the size of the tire ninnie! LOL. When I took them off my HREs before sending them to be refurbished, they grew legs and walked away. Or they are in hiding. Now that the HREs are back, I need rear tires. Actually I have plenty of tires just not the right type or size. I want big shoes.

I added an inch and a half so I 'have' to get bigger shoes for those puppies. I don't see a Nitto 335 advertised but don't they make one in an 18 DR. PS: They're in plain view on the Nitto site. Duh.

You're so right about the ETs being soft and sticky. I bought my brother some rears for his Grand National. He put them on his new 10" rims and went out to play. He had to call me to come and ride in the 'new' toy. He just spent a wad to get in the 700-900 range. I sat my modestly fat **** in the car and he backed out of the driveway. Soon as the car squatted when it hit the street a big rubbing sound from the rear announced itself.

He had torn into both tires to the cord with his inner rear fender lip. They were destroyed for any serious work. My extra 200 lbs made it squat just enough. I thought he was going to cry. As stingy as he is he would have had he paid for them! He just had them rolled in to protect against that and finally had the new Bilsteins installed. As soon as he can afford to get new tires he can check it out on low boost.

I know it's the size of the tire, silly.

You had stated, "Nitto 315s give me some traction but it could be better."

My point is that without knowing whether it's the "555 Extreme", or the DR, or the R2, or the drifting tire which makes orange smoke , how can anyone advise on what would be a "step up" in traction?

Which one do you think I mean? I'm talking drag radials here and it's obvious the two tires I mentioned are big time traction drag radials. I must need a lot of traction for my car, huh? Not to be sensitive because I don't mind good natured ribbing at all, but if you wanna be a smartaleck then just don't post to my threads. Or did I become too sensitive and misread your posts????

I come here for fun, information, buying and selling, more information and fellowship with fellow Corvette members. Most of these are real nice but some here tend to want to troll threads looking for trouble.

I'm sorry I didn't give you the information 'you' needed to 'help' me out. Feel free to ignore me or just don't help me.

And no I can't beat you up nor to I appreciate your name calling especially one so condescending. I'm only annoyed and establishing boundaries. I don't want to fight nor to bore the crap out of other people who may look at the thread. Right now most would read and run which won't help me so frig my 'boundaries'. I'll start a new thread and just ignore you. Fell free to ignore me back or be my friend. I'd prefer the latter.

The Mickeys would be the best IMHO. But if you daily drive the car I would have those M/T as a backup on good weather days only, not fun in the rain

Sorry, I wasn't aware that either "boundaries" or friendship needed to be necessarily sourced in agreement.

Your microcosm may be different.

Some of the people who I most admire professionally are those who I have had significant disagreements with. It's arguing such matters which often contributes to progress.

I don't mind debating a subject relevant to the thread or anything of substance. When you pile on for not giving you enough information when its clearly discussing DRs then I take exception. However, you may have the last word as this 'disagreement' is beyond silly and now I'm a participant.

Nittos are bad enough in the rain. I'll go with the BFG this time. It doesn't take long before it's decision time again anyway.

Nitto doesn't make a DR in 315 that I'm aware of. 305 yes.

They make a 315 in a 17. I have some MT and Hoosiers in 17 but I want to run 18s for now. I have run 305s in 18s.

I may look at the 335 in 18in thanks to the advice here. I can't run 305s on 11.5+" rims or I won't.
