Default Forced induction on a Z06

I was thinking about adding more power to my '04 Z06 and was looking into the A&A blower setup. I was told by another Corvette owner that it wasn't a good idea to perform this upgrade on a Z06 because it would blow the engine. I never heard this but I figured this is a good time to start researching. I found a few stories about too much boost and Z06 catastrophes.

Is there more to the story?

The other Z06 owner is full of ****

There is plenty to read in this section to convince you to go FI A safe boost level and a good tuner and you will have many miles of enjoyment

Find a good tuner for best chances of making it work. My engine is bone stock internally and makes >700rwhp.

Too much boost, not tuned right and you can toast your motor. These pistons won't put up with much abuse. The ring lands will break with detonation. We see that in here from time to time.

put a blower on any engine and tune it incorrectly and things will go boom! Mine makes 589rwhp in my 03Z with stock internals but like others have said, the tune is very important!

A bad tuner could blow a stock engine is he/she is bad enough. You should be fine running ~550rwhp with no meth.

ECS or A&A are both good options.

You can easily net 550 to the wheels on your car with the right tune.

Thanks everyone. I figured that I was being mis-informed.

I have a lot of studying to do before I choose a package to go with.
It seems like theres a lot of options when it comes to FI.
Is there a popular package that everyone seems to like?

I need to research good tuners in my area too.

Thanks again

Your friend is uninformed and ignorant to B@@ST!

Just a small education on B@@ST and you'll be running your Z like a raped APE

It is safe and on stock internals you'll be fine with correct tuning and , for safety, run Methanol injection

Thanks,Matt

like everyone else said if the tune is right and the system is installed correctly. you should have no problems. Mine is an 03 z06 with a cam package and a procharger running 9lbs with meth, pushing 650 and 585. only had the kit for 3k miles so far and not a problem to be had. (knock on wood lol)
you can do it enjoy it and just take care of it.
what you will like most about the car is it drives like stock till you actually push the petal and get into boost.

I have talked more than a few guys out of going with big cam and head packages and running the SC for just this reason.

They have all be very happy with the results versus going with a larger motor or a head and cam setup.

The only time I would not suggest the blower versus a H/C or Larger Cube setup is if you primarily use the car to roadrace... My opinion anyway.

We just completed one that was bone stock with an A&A kit on it and it made 591 to the wheels.
