usually long side output snaps,they shear clean right past the end of the splines.You then get to fish the broken piece of stub back out of the halfshaft.Pops then freewheels,occasionally the car will feel like it wants to move if you have good diff clutch packs.Gears feel normal,but it rolls unless you set the brake.Plan on doing the clutch packs/preload springs when its apart.Here is a quick pic,I weld a bolt on the broken piece to extract.

Ya but there no way that bolt will take any kind of torque
Sometimes when your output shaft fails its purely psychological I have read that many men have this issue during times of stress or anxiety. oh wait your talking about your cars output shaft......
Does anyone in here know where I can buy a left C6Z output shaft? All of the dealers are saying that I need to purchase the entire 400.00 assembly (boot, CV joint...) just so I can get the output shaft?

Sounds like there's some confusion with terminology. An output shaft would be a differential part, not a halfshaft part.
