E85 Upgrade Question

Default E85 Upgrade Question

I purchased Drewsteins old 99 vette. Here are the specifics on the car.

402ci Katech LS2 9.5:1CR
Callies Crank
Callies Rods
JE Pistons
Lingenfelter 6.0 Heads
CB02 Blower cam
Comp 921 springs
ARP head studs
Hardened Pushrods

Induction:
Procharger D1SC stage II Kit 16#
Cartek Flip Drive (Dual belt setup, can drive without blower belt)
8 Rib crank and blower pulleys as well (Zero belt slip)
100 Shot NX Nitrous kit with separate fuel cell, pump & regulator
Tial 50mm BOV
2 Bar tune

Fuel:
RSI Fuel system
Twin in-tank Walboro 255lph pumps
Two -6 Feed lines
Return is a single -6
Aeromotive Fuel rails
Aeromotive Regulator
60# injectors

I just had it dynoed and found out that the 60# injectors are taxed at 6,000rpm. My question is would 83# be sufficent or should I go with 90's since I will be upgrading to E85. Also, those that run a wet nitrous system do I need to do anything specific with the nitrous system ie a special nozzle to work with E85. The reason that I want to switch to E85 is more power and I have a company locally that I can get a 55 gallon barrel of E85 from so I know the quality will stay consistent.

What 90's are you talking about? The 83's probably will not be enough for E85. I doubt you even have enough fuel pump for it. FYI, the 83's are rated at 3bar. We run 4 bar for fuel pressure, so those 83's are actually ~97's at 60psi. Since you're boost referenced (or should be with that regulator), they should be the equivalent of ~110's at 16psi.
You will probably need some 120's or higher to run your E85.

Sorry I meant 95's for the injectors. My fuel pump was my other concern if the dual 255's would be enough.

Don't know about your pumps but you'll want to factor in a 30% increase in available injector to run E85. Andy @ DynoTune USA in Watertown SD would be a good person to discuss this with.

....I will be running E85 as well. The fuel system that I built(racepartssolutions) runs a -10 line forward, a -8 line return, 2500hp magnafuel XL750, maganafuel boost referenced regulator, 160lb injectors, and an accereronics versafueler. This should be enough to handle 1700rwhp on E85 sustained(as in a mile). Overkill? Whatever. I'm tired of being limited by fuel issues.

I think your going to need WAY more then an 80lb iinjector,.... and more pump delivery(bigger or more pumps) and much larger feed line/return. -8 feed, -8 return may work well. For the injector driver box, should you go with 160's..... use the acceleronic's versafueler.

I saw the other day one of the guys here has big low impedence injectros and a converter box. Check c5 fs section.

If you want to go Deaustchewerks, I carry those.

Whoa!!!!

First.... Your system is not E85 Ready...

Give me a call tomorrow and I will walk you through the items that need a little tweaking.

Second.... There is only one injector that we would ever recommend you run for this type of application... Injector Dynamic 1000cc (100lb) they will push all the fuel you need for this setup. We work with some of the biggest names in high performance tuning and they all swear by them too!
