As soon as the bottle opens the N20 comes out of the purge line all the sudden. I've had the solenoid on there for about 6 months and have only used it approximately 30 times tops. Do purge solenoids have a tendency to stick open? Is it done for? Not looking foward to dropping $85 on another one..Is there anything I can do to it? There is a screw on the end of it. Not sure if it serves a purpose other than securing the housing of it. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Also I just installed a NOS remote bottle opener. It gets power but no matter which way the LED toggle switch is positioned, the N20 goes straight to the front when I crack the bottle open. I bought it used. It's obviously a simple wiring diagram so I'm sure it's right. Should I be able to hear anything from the opener when I toggle it open/closed? It's obviously stuck in the open position just like my bad purge solenoid.....Thanks..Paully.
I have the answer for both, and have had both happen, lol. The purge noids are the small noids and prone to failure, or at least getting stuck open with debri. The amp load is small and thus equates to weak. You can check for debris or do a rebuild or both. they come apart real easy and cost for rebuild is small. I have lost a complete bottle of nitrous due to the purge noid sticking open.
I bought a used NOS electric noid bottle opener and it leaked like yours. They are old school design and use material on the seats that is not conducive to longevity. Same thing here, get a rebuild kit and all should be fine. I recently just sold mine, with a fresh rebuild.
