Default Remapping required with Air Intake change?

Can someone tell me if changing the OEM air intake on my 2001 C5 (with the HalltechTrap, Vararam, Vortech Rammer, or K7N FIPK, etc) requires either a MAF sensor replacement or a tune and remapping. I’ve installed a Vararam system that appears to be responsible for MAF LTFT errors, turning on the check engine with P0171 & P0172 codes, every time I jump on the throttle. The Chevy garage says there is too much air passing through the MAF and the only solution is to go back to OEM, but the folks at Vararam claim all intake changes require remapping. True or False?

THanks,

Moose

Sorry about that. I'd change it if I could. That's the trouble with NEW POSTERS!

One of my first mods a long time ago was the Vararam. I had no codes or issues with the tune after the install. Could be some other issue causing the codes.

Isn't one code showing bank 1 too lean and the other showing the same bank too rich?

A retune is always a good idea but can be expensive...

Those were the codes given me by the Chevy service garage and I didn't question them. I've decided to get the remap and hope it fixes the problem.
