Just got an answer to my quesion about raising the boost pressure on my c5. I suppose 8#s and 550hp is enough. My next question is I have an hks evc s electronic boost controller installed. Right now it is turned off and I use it to read my boost pressure. It has settings a. and b. so I'd like to use it. It also has an adjustment for getting the boost to increase faster. Thats what I'm after. Try to follow me here, I'm new to this, If I set it at 8#s can I get the boost to increase faster or will my wastegate springs prevent it? Don't get me wrong, I'm very pleased with the power of the car. I just wana make sure that when that blue mustang saleen pulls up next to me again I make him regret it. Again...
On springs, it slowly opens the wastegate. Using a solenoid or stepper controlled wastegate, it should keep the wastegate held closed until the last moment and improve spooling.
You can manipulate the rate of spool with some. I can change when the WG opens so it will spool faster. IE:
I have 7# springs. factory set starts opening the WG @ 2#. I can hold it shut longer to 6# before it opens and it will spool faster and hit 7# faster. You can slow it down the same way. Its also a way to control traction ( at least they say that )
Have you guys had any results from this adjustment?I have played with the GAIN on my Blitz controller and didn't notice any difference.Great feature if it works.
Thanks for the input. I'm going to have to be patient now cause I live in western maryland where the taxes are high and the roads are full of salt and gravel. I think turning it down a bit (from 8#) might benefit me. Its cold right now and I already had enough trouble with the tires spinning. Even getting on the freeway and goosing it at 65 the rear end kicks out. Pretty sweet, made my ***** tingle but a little dangerous with the tractor trailer behind me. The HKS evc-s seems to be working well though. After you figure out how to program it that is.
And if tuned on MAF for lets say 8 PSI, if you go to 9, now its going to be leaner, 10 even more so, etc etc etc. With SD, it will keep increasing fuel up to 14.7 on a 2 bar tune.
Minimum boost is WG spring. From there you bleed off pressure to increase boost. This is done through the boost controller.
Some you can stage.. set two different ramps.. change ramp times.. do gear dependant levels, etc.
Slowest spoolup is tuner style hose from comp to WG. Fastest is blocking any air to WG throughthe use of a boost controller. In between is a fine line that can be tweaked given the right boost controller.
Lastly, make sure you have enough octane to support the boost level intended.

I think this is the response I was after. So the springs don't open all at once.? If thats true by useing my electronic boost control I can get it to spool faster for better responce. I tryed it out some. It seems to pull out of vaccum faster and of course excellerate faster. I think. The mind can easily play tricks on you. Like hearing loud exhaust makes you think it feels faster. Thanks for the help.
