I know is off topic but I'm putting together a LQ9 for a friend who is going FI in his Corvette. Are the stock bore 6.0 head gaskets the same as the stock bore LS1?
Everything is the same except the bore in the gasket. If you're asking if you can use an LS1 gasket, the answer is "no". You have to get a 6.0l gasket.
I have never had an issue with the standard MLS gaskets. I have never read about anyone having an issue with them either. No reason to take away your cylinder quench, lower your compression and decrease the effective length of your pushrods IMHO.
If your compression is were you want it with a standard MLS gasket then for sure go ahead and use it.They have worked well for lots of guys in the past.I used the ZR1 gasket as I already had my pistons and heads and I just wanted to lower my compression a little more.I also had not gotten my push rods yet so that wasn't an issue for me.Rob at Champion had told me they were even better then the standard gasket and I liked the fact that they were made by GM to hold 20% more torque then the standard gasket.Either way you can't go wrong with GM.
I have used Cometic gaskets in the past on a couple of my 8 second cars because they had different thickness gaskets. They didn't work for me.
