Default transmission help

I'm fixing to purchase a 01 z06 that has a forged engine and a d1sc running at 610 rwhp. I don't drag race from a stop, usually the most i'm gonna do is a spirited driving I also don't ever go to the strip since there isn't one near me. What type of transmission modifications should i look into for added safety and security, i'd hate to be on the freeway and punch it to show what she's got and have something go out on me. Thanks

You should be fine until you put on DRs and launch at 5k, I run a stock MN6 and will not do 5k launches, even those are tough with the best RPM tranny and differentials

There is a track not far from you. Not that you needed to hear that.
There is also a great Corvette mechanic in your area. PM me if you need info.

Oh, one curiosity, is your screen name supposed to be boostisadrug?

lol yeah it's suppose to be, i can't remember if the name was already taken or if i was clumsy enough to type it in wrong and didn't pay attention. Yeah I might have to visit that track but just watch and not do any race so i don't break anything or imbaress myself. I'll send you a pm asking about the mechanic.

Actually being that you are a C5 Z06 you should have the MN12 Tranny and a little beefier tranny than the stock MN6 Coupes! Someone correct me if I am wrong here

Either way you should have nothing to worry about with the rear or the Tranny - they are really stout and don't break all that easy!

Thanks,Matt

If you get someone local to build the trans, the billet keys, bronze fork pads and steel 3-4 shift fork should not be missed. The keys are a really simple part that can destroy a trans if the cheesy factory ones break.

Thanks chris, i certainly will. Let me know if you hear of corvette meets or cruises that go on, i'd like to attend some to see other guys cars. I had a corvette before i had this one but it was for a short period of time because i went into a school program that prevented me from working and i dind't get to enjoy the meets and cruises that i hear about going on so i'm hoping this time around i can be a true corvette lover and experience it all.
