Default Radiator Clearance Options

Well, I pulled a dumb move which resulted in a busted radiator. I had zero issues with cooling the summer with the stock radiator.

My main concern if I go to a new radiator is one that gives me the most clearance to the blower inlet. What is the best option?

Arun@Championmotors has one that is a little shorter and gives you more clearance for the air intake elbow.

All you need to is to get some washers or spacers and remove the (4) lower bolts on the radiator cradle to lower your stock radiator some.

It's already lowered and trimmed up top like all A&A setups. I want more access.

TXZ0603,

Never drive over a piece of plywood in your garage assuming it is not warped.

I believe Dewits makes a shortened one with bigger clearance for the intake on supercharged engines, although I don't see it on their site right now.

I think Becool and Dewitts make shorter radiators. You could always slant the radiator back a bit and make some custom upper brackets.

If you need a shortened dewitts radiator, we'll be more than hapy to hook you up with one. My vote is the dewitts. They are soo nice.

I think I also have a stock one out of an auto you can have. Just pay shipping.

Thanks for the offer. I am picking up a stock one from a friend tonight. I might go for the aftermarket one this summer though.

The standard DeWitts radiator fits just fine with our supercharger system. There is no need to go to a shorter one.
Clearance is actually better with the DeWitts over the stock radiator.
No trimming is needed with the DeWitts radiator.

RSD has some really nice radiators for sale, they are all aluminum and made in the USA. They also have the cut down version aswell. Ive had one in my car for the last year an half and it is an excellent unit.

How much shorter is the standard Dewitts or RSD's cut down one vs stock one?

THe RSD Radiator is dual 1 1/4 cores and is cut down 3". This allows the 4" ducting for the supercharger inlet instead of the loss of boost from the plastic Dongle. They still cool way better than stock and you don't have to lower them or slant them back, both of which reduce cooling efficiency. Ask me how I know about that!

Here is a picture (this is the C6 cutdown)

We use this with Blown C6 Z06 because they need the tranny cooler, and because of the intercooler they need the oil cooler as well. You will love all this radiator will do for you.

Linxs on here came through for me with a stock unit which will work great for this setup. Once I try for more power it looks like this RSD is the way to go.

This just makes sense for those of us that will be maxing out our head units. I'll probably want 800-850rwhp using this t-trim once I build an engine. I'll need every psi I can get.

Funny I was just trying to get more room with my radiator ended up putting washers to drop the bracket then did a real smart move and pushed down on the passenger side and snap the little nipple broke off on the tank. I'm looking at a new radiator as well now and just when I would rather spend money on other items.
