With the LS6 you'll hit 550rwhp easy with meth on low boost. With an LS1 you'll need either more boost or a cam probably.
I'd personally go for the Z06. Since you're hung up on that particular body style, might as well get the one that has the better rear diff, hotter heads/cam/intake manifold, oh and lower mileage.
Clutch, well it depends on how you drive it. I have almost 125k on my original Ls1 clutch. Been at 480-512rwhp for the past 18k miles(3 years). I don't race from a dig so I'm thinking I'll get another year or two out of mine at least. Your mileage may very though.
Your right z06 sounds about right
u say meth u mean methanol kit right? Where can u find kits for corvettes?
Call one of the shops nearest to your area, or call Chris at ECS. Pretty much any of the corvette shops that do supercharger installs regularly, will have their own particular brand of methanol injection kits that they prefer. I have a Labonte Stage 3 kit that I got through RPM motors. Replaces the windshield wiper fluid and shoots the meth into the air bridge before the throttle body and intake manifold. Pretty stealth actually as the nozzle is on the bottom side of the airbridge.
It depends on what kit you're looking at. They can run you anywhere from 300-400 for the low optioned models, to 600-700 for the higher end ones(might have dual nozzles, or electronic controls). Either way, I'd recommend getting a progressive controller that controls when the meth starts spraying, and increases spray as boost and rpm rises. give Chris at ECS a call and he can get you squared away.
You might want to add headers to the package in the future. If you are going to blow extra air and fuel into the combustion chambers, it's great if you can also exhaust the spent gasses.
I got 656 RWHP on my 2002 Z06 with a blower cam, headers and an A&A Vortech V-3.
I chose the V-3 because it is self contained for oiling and doesn't require you to tap into the pan for your blower oil supply.
