I had good luck with the LS1 f-body dry kit, called NOS 5177. Got it super cheap used at LS1tech. You can get 100hp for just a few hundred dollars, can't beat that anywhere! (Until it runs out)
It's made to run on stock tune and timing, so you just fill n go.
I just bought a nitrous outlet plate kit. The quality and instructions are great. I would stick with the one of these 3. I chose the the n20 outlet due the price and quality and have heard no complaints about them nor have any myself.
This is a loaded question. There are some good kits out there such as the nitrous outlet kits, HSW, & Dynotune. I got a wet plate kit from HSW which I will install when I recover from my surgery so I can't wait for that to happen. These are all quality kits. You have a choice of dry kits ( dry will need an upgrade in fuel injectors) and wet kits but the most important aspect for you is making sure you have it tuned on a dyno for nitrous. You will need a good fuel pump. I would get a fuel pressure saftey switch in case your fuel pressure drops as it will shut off the nitrous. You will need to keep the nitrous bottle pressure at about 950 so a bottle heater kit will do that for you or you can upgrade to a nano kit which will eliminate the need for a bottle heater. You will also need a set of colder spark plugs.
A/F ratio, fuel pressure and bottle pressure are some key elements to running it safely. You do not want to go lean on the fuel mixture as that will cause damage to the engine. Read as much as possible about nitrous before you buy anything. I think a stock LS1 can handle up to a 125 shot without a problem as long as you have the other things as mentioned in place.
Heres a good link to start with: http://robertsnitrousservice.com/
I am upgrading to a Forged 382 and revamping my systems, if I go with a Fast 92 (as built I am staying with LS6 Intake/TB to reduce intial 382cost), likely switch to the HSW Plate, as that I think allows for some cleaner looking Hardlines with the lines coming from the sides (although I do like Moike's setup!).

Very nice! No expense spared with the Nano and Trick performance gauge.
LOL, thats cus I got a deal on the panel
I broke my stock LS1 lower end in Oct, spun rod bearing on #1 and 2, do not think that was nitrous related (but it was at the track spray a small 100 shot dry), so I am putting a good effort into the new motor as well.
i have a couple nitrous questions.. im looking at installing a wet kit on my 03. the kit i was looking at is a fly by wire? it reads the tps for wide open throttle. does this kit shut off if you hit the rev limiter or traction control kicks in or do i need a window switch? im unsure what the window switch does besides shutting it off under 3k or above 6k or whatever setting you have it at.what exactly happens when tc kicks in? does it actually close the throttle for you? any help would be appreciated. im familiar with nitrous but have only sprayed carberated stuff..
When you buy most kits, they do not come with the "window switch". If your getting one that is fly by wire be sure what your getting.
HSW has the microedge, Nitrous outlet has trick performance window switch as well as I think their own brand now. Various other features are in some of the controllers that are available such as lean shut down etc if used in conjunction with narrow band or wideband sensors, two stage, gear lockout to spray say second and third gear only.
Window Switch with a TPS input (or WOT switch) is what your looking for. TPS input reads the 5v and lets you define WOT. When programing it say you 3/4 pedal to be the reference for WOT, this may be say 4.3 volts. The TPS input really is just a replacement for the mechanical WOT switch you may have run on a carb or gas pedal.
Set your window switch so you do not hit your rev limiter.
Turn Traction control off, or use comp mode when spraying.
Call up some vendors; most do not push the sale, ask questions and compare the answers to the other vendors. IF you can not get them to answer their phone to talk about your concerns before the sale, they probably will not be much help for troubleshooting if you need it when installing.
Vendors I have luck with is Harris Speed Works, Nitrous Outlet and Dynotune.
MicroEdge here and love it! Pretty simple install and costs $150 is hard to beat. I have mine cutting on at 3,000rpms and shutting down at 6,800rpms. Lean shutdown is set to roughly 13.8afr through the stock narrow band. If traction is an issue i will lock out 1st and just spray 2nd-4th. Just tee off the DK/BLU wire on the tps and run it to the microedge accordingly and is set up, along with the other wires.
i really know so little about the ls1 that it scares me to mess with it. i have had an issue at the track before where i turned off the tc and the display said it was off but when i started to clean the tires off it kicked in. if that happened on the button would it blow or does tc shut the throttle off which would cut the nitrous off.. i know nothing about wideband sensors or narrow band.. i was just hoping that i wouldnt hafta do anything more than change to colder plugs with a 125 shot..

Traction control wont cut off the nitrous if you use the WOT micro switch. Just read around somemore before throwing a kit on the car. figure out which system you wanna go with a feel the most comfortable with you know, alot of kits out there and alot of options.

Traction control will pull timing based on the "tune" parameters (torque limitations) whether your using a WOT microswitch or not and is independant of the nitrous system. TC is best turned off, or comp mode selected should the track be greasy, comp mode may keep ya from hitting the wall.
WOT Switch (micro or TPS) is one of three safety's needed for Nitrous activation.
1. System armed through a switch
2. WOT activated (switch or TPS)
3. RPM in "Window"
All three must be active for the system to function.
One needs to be more concerned with the rev limiter which cuts fuel when setting up a Nitrous system.
thanx for your input. im looking at the nitrous outlet kit.. so i should be ok goin with a 100 or 125 shot with just colder plugs.. i should be ok without having to do any kind of special tune?
