I have a coupe and was wondering if anyone has mounted a 10lb bottle in the rear center compartment. I know the bottle is supposed to be mounted facing the front of the car but could it be mounted sideways in the rear compartment? Also if you did mount it in the rear compartment could you still get the cover on so it wasn't visible?
I don't have a picture on my computer after the full install, but here is a couple to show mine. You can see how I installed it and then the size of hole I had to cut in the compartment cover.
And, yes the wires are cleaned up and hidden in the final install.
Here is a group of 3 very clean hidden set-up pics, done by Corvetteforum member Mr. Jones, and is an'03 C5. It shows how a 10lb bottle can be mounted sideways in the spare compartment, with the cover fitting nicely. Remember to keep the valve end as high as you can for proper feed. Most stock style brackets will work fine, and looks as though there is roon for NANO, at least the smaller 4500 series bottles.
Another hidden set-up from Tim Pipkin at the Corvetteforum. Once the lid is down you would never know there is a nitrous bottle inside.
Why not just intall it in the hatch area? You won't need a remote bottle opener and you shouldn't leave a bottle in the car anyway...at least not here in AZ (BOOM).
Even in a side mount, just angle it a bit and turn the bottle a bit to make sure that under acceleration the pick up tube can get every last drop.
