Default clutch problem

I have 100 shot and with it put out about 500 hp.

When I use the N2O, I guess an overheating condition occurs and renders the clutch useless ; it drops to the floor. After a short cooling off period it works normal. I use Motul RBF 600 racing fluid.

Can anyone recommend a fix for this clutch problem. I would like a recommendation, not only for a specific clutch, but any changes to be made to any part of the clutch system as well.

I'd like to be able to use the nitrous and not fear clutch problems when the N2O kicks in.

Thax.

Bad news your gonna need a new clutch. Make your selection wisely and plan for the future. If your staying close to that HP level stick with a single clutch. If your going to be adding signifigant HP you may want to look into a twin disc.
My favorite singles are..
1) Spec 3+ (everyone hates it I love it)
2) Tex OZ700 (was a nice clutch)

Those are the two I have used and never had a problem with either.

I had the Textralia Twin and it was great but couldn't hold up to my abuse and power, so I paid them to upgrade to the triple which I love. It has a stiff pedal.
I have never known anyone to complain about the Mcleod RXT twin and I believe it has lighter pedal pressure than my clutch. Nobody complains about the installation and setup.
If you're thinking about a Monster, do your homework.
Many years ago I had a ACT on my souped up rice wagon and it was noisy for about 5kmi and then settled down. For the Corvettes, I have heard good things about the ACT.
Fidanza...They're ok, but too much $ for what you get IMO.
Spec.... Seems to be hit or miss.

when you change the clutch make sure you get a new slave cylinder from GM, its also a good idea to get a Tick master cylinder, and lastly a remote bleeder.

As far as clutches go-
Spec 3+ is a good clutch and not very $$
Monster level 3 also good clutch from my experience, others may chime in a say otherwise.
Tex Oz700 is also a good choice as long as you are ok with a stiff pedal.

If you want to step up to a twin disk then look into the RPS street twin carbon. Don't let the price scare you away, everyone that has one loves them.

Thax for the info everybody.

I don't plan on having much more than 500 HP at the wheels with the N20.

You think a 2 disk clutch would be overkill ? I want peace of mind and ease of operation as it is pretty much a daily driver. I believe cheap is expensive so I don't mind paying for something good.

Twin disc is not overkill and they generaly have better street matters than a high performance single disk will.

Not true. It depends on the manufacturer. I had an Exedy twin that had horrible street manners. I now run a Tex 0Z700 which has great street manners. The pedal is stiffer then stock but not bad at all. The stock pedal is too soft and provides no feedback IMO. Personally I would stick with a single until you make enough power to justify a twin. Twins will cost more.

To the original poster, do your research there is always a latest flavor of the month when it comes to clutches. The only one that I know of that had been around a long time and I have not heard any complaints about is McCleod. That will be my next clutch.

Like the others said you will also need the following:
GM slave with throw out bearing
GM pilot bearing
GM or Tick master cylinder
Remote bleeder

Do it right the first time.

It is not installed yet so I can't tell you how it is yet.

Correct, guess I should have clarrified that. I have drivin a spec twin and that had nice street mannors and nice pedal effort, I've also drivin a Tex twin.... Hated that clutch for the street. RPS and ACT are both supposed to have near stock drivability. I will be putting the rps in my car as soon as I get the keys to my house.

I've got an oz700 and it's a 'little' stiffer than stock. wouldn't mind driving in traffic at all. some clutch bark, but not bad
