There will be problems unless they have really deep pockets. I mean by the time Indy was certified there was a 40 Million investment and F1 got greedy and wanted 20 Million a race for royalties. It was horrible what happened there and Americans have a bad taste in their mouth about F1. I went to every USGP and continue to watch what is on Speed but it is kind of like soccer competing with football. NASCAR is the mainstream auto sport and F1 is not gonna happen here consistently because it wasn't born here. Hopefully I am wrong but it is what it is.

NASCAR attracts the fans with that WWE mentality. Watching a bunch of cowboy drivers go around in circles putting each other into the wall intentionally is their form of so called racing. I'd like to see those "World Best" NASCAR drivers race an F1 or ALMS P1 car at Spa or Sebring. A good example of a NASCAR drivers lack of talent is when Dale Jr couldn't even make the warm up lap driving the corvette C5R...he totally destroyed the car and almost BQ himself.
There are a huge number of of sport car race fans in this country that enjoy watching F1. I hope that the Texas F1 track is built to world class standards and thus becomes a USA race for many years to come. F1 racing is technology as it's finest extreme, whereas NASCAR is lost some where in the dark ages when it comes to technology...but there are a lot of drunken spectators at each race that helps to compensate for the lack of of technology and driver talent.
I love and hate F1! i love the tech involved and the amazing driver talent that the sport has. but there is a total lack of overtaking and this is really damaging the sports fan base. in the old days guys dive up the insde on almost EVERY corner just to get past someone. now there may only be 2 or 3 overtaking sport on the whole circit. it makes the racing boring!
i watchsome Formula Ford racing the other day. these little things are brilliant. OK the racing isn't great but there is soem much over taking and general action in the race. yes they dont LOOK as impresive or go as fast as F1 cars, but it didn't send me to sleep like F1 dose! lol

98vettedave, you mentioned how talented F1 drivers are. There have been a couple of TV presenters that have had the chance to drive actual F1 cars. and this really put it into persepective what these DRVIERS are cappable of! the shear speed and finnes that they have to have for over one and a half hours is unberleiveable. the physical strength they must have is inase. the cars are pulling 5g in braking time and time again. Also they have to hit their braking points form 200mph and sitting (more like laying) about an inch of the floor. and in some places in killer heat to! i heard somewhere that drives often loose anything upto 3kg (3ltr) of water in a race.
Im not saying NASCAR dosen't require talented drivers. however i doubt a NASCAR drive could jump into a F1 car and be anywhere near as quick as the F1 driver in the NASCAR!

Just my opinion.
I agree the overtaking at some F1 tracks is extremely difficult (almost impossible). A good example of that is the track at Hungry,it's a relatively new track but was poorly designed...better suited for go carts than F1 cars. That's why I said that the track in Texas needs to be world class...long straight aways with some big fast sweeping curves that makes overtaking possible...track design is what can make or break the excitement of any race...watch the F1 race at SPA...never boring there!
I think you have me wrong. I cannot stand NASCAR and never have been to a NASCAR race or even watched it on TV for more than 10 minutes but race goers if you will watch NASCAR and not F1. I wish we had 5 F1 events on the North American continent but it is what it is though. F1 needs an American team(s) and after the latest Charloette debacle I don't see one on the horizon.
