Default Blow off valve behavior??

First want to say this forum is a great resource - all the mods / fixes I have done were much easier due to some great posts / pictures shared on here by some of the members. (Supercharger install, meth injection, drivers side differential seal replacement, rotors, brakes & caliper install after powdercoating, Double Din mod, sub box build & amps install, etc. etc....)

Hopefully someone will be able to help with this one.

I am Curious if my blow off (bypass) valve is working correctly - I have the Maxflow Vortec BOV that came with the A&A kits about 1.5 (or so) years back when I bought it from A&A. The BOV seems to stay open most of the time (80% or more) accept on hard acceleration - then I can clearly hear it close then open when I am shifting. I have the filter off so I can hear it and it seems even under mild acceleration it is open and venting. I was under the impression that it should open only on release of the gas pedal or deceleration?

I pulled the BOV out and everything appears to be working correctly. I did find the o-ring that goes on the face of the plate mating to the discharge outlet sitting inside the plate around the shaft that connects between the plate and the inner workings of the BOV. I was able to get it around the plate and firmly seated so now I have a good seal - but I did have to push the plate in some to get it around and on. I noticed there seems to be a bit of a sticking point when I released the plate (not 100% sure if this is the right nomenclature) before it would seat against the discharge outlet. Not sure if that is why it is staying open more that it seems it should be?

I tried calling Vortec the other day when they opened (they are on PST and I am EST) and there was a wait already - could not hold as I was at work and did not have the time...

Hopefully this makes sense.... Appreciate any insight someone might have.

Thats how a turbo's BOV would operate. Only open during decel and in between shirts. BOVs work different on a centri blower. Since the blower is always trying to make boost the BOV needs to be open right up until you cross over into boost. It should be open at idle and cruise to bleed off the boost until you want it. Some guys who have Tials which take different springs have turbo springs in them which are staying closed when it should be open.

You can see where yours is opening if you put a vacuum pump on it.

Thanks Bill - sounds like mine is working correctly.
