Default Clamping force in question !

Just sent my LQ9 block and 317 heads to the machine shop. Getting double o-ringed and 1/2" studs installed. My question is how bullet proof is this combo?? A friend of mine has the same block and head work as I described and he's 13.5:1 and spraying 500hp with a plate and fogger system. I have know idea what his cylinder pressures are but they gotta be high. He's never lifted a head or pushed water so I'm feeling pretty confident. I'm going forged 370 with either S88 or F1. So I'm wondering about lifting a head, the PSI will be pushed pretty high. The compressor maps will hold atleast 30psi, so anybody got experiance or input on this setup ???? Thanks in advance..

Ok, I talked to him(Morton Machine)again. Here's what he said; .040 stainless double(one in the head and one in the block) concentric o-ring. And yes we all know LS motors only have 4 bolts per cylinder. Soon to be 1/2" studs torqued to 100ftlbs and he insists on the .060 copper gasket. Its a centrifical blower pushing 25-30psi and deck thickness is unknown, factory iron 6.0 block with factory aluminum heads(317). It will be making roughly 800-900 RWHP with this combo.
So with this being the facts or what I know as fact. Whatcha thinkin ??
Am I going stay together ?? Am I seriously pushing the limits of this combo ??

I don't know why the worry about lifting heads-let'em lift-change the gaskets and go race another day.

When they don't lift-that's when you start to hurt ****.

Arun I'm glad you chimed in. I had your kit in mind for this build. Iron 370, (good rods and pistons) 317's and one of your custom blower cams. For budget reasons I'd like to stay in the D series procharger. Prochargers website says the D-SC1 will support 1400cfm, 32 psi @ 62,000 rpm. Is this real world accurate ?? I'm shooting for 800-900 RWHP, whats your thoughts on this combo ?? Thinking 8 or 10 rib with a flip drive ?? So you think the o-ring, 1/2" stud and copper gasket combo is bad for the street ?? Just worried about pushing water at a measley 15lbs or something.
I have at lot more questions but I'll leave it at that for now.

Thanks....

If the tunes spot on i wouldn't worry about pushing water with 20 psi, I never pushed a drop all last season and I'm still running the same combo this season-although I've yet to make it too the track.

8 rib is plenty for a D1 but if you plan on stepping it up to a F1C or R then go straight to 10 now.

The D1 will get you 800 on pump gas and meth no problem, even through a crappy 75mm TB. On good juice the D1 will go even further. But if your buying everything from scratch just get a F1C or F1A from the get-go. In the long run you'll be saving money.

I all ready have all the forged parts, 6.0 block and 317's. What should I do about the sealing/clamping situation ?? Studs ??
Size studs ?? O-ring or not ?? Head gasket choices ?? and according to this the D-SC1 has a lot of potential

thanks..
