I installed a Ken Belle boost a pump and it doesn't seem to be working correctly. Its supposed to start building voltage at 3.5 psi. At idle and slow cruising it is putting out 13.8 volts. The fuel pressure is anywhere between 61 and 67 psi. When first installed I was getting an a/f ratio of 10.5 off boost, and 9.5 on boost. We tuned the car (60# injectors) to get consistent 11.8, and next time I drove it your eyes would water if you stood behind it and it has no real power.
Does this seem right?
I realize I need to tune it to the right a/f ratios, but there is a dail, from 0 to 50%. At max, (50% of 12 volts) it should supply 18 volts. KB doesn't provide any instructions on how to adjust, and I am questioning them on that, the only hint is under a mustang supercharger section they list 20-25% for 9# of boost.
They provide a 3.5# hobbs switch, so at idle, no boost, it shouldn't be up around 66-67psi.
Don't waste your money with a BAP. Just buy a higher volume fuel pump, or even a dual fuel pump, like the RSI system. The BAP will just overdrive the motor coils on the pump motor and cause it to fail sooner.
