I am surprised you hook in 2nd with KWs in the rear. The track will be sticky if well prepped so you might be able to hook out of the hole. You will just have to try it and see.
Good Luck
A4
295 KW2s in the rear.
100 wet shot, set to fire from 3000-6000 rpm (window switch).
Can I launch in 1st gear? I've used it in 2nd and have absolutely no traction loss but have been scared to try it off the line.
Going to the strip tomorrow and want to get a great time.
Not being a A4 guy...M12 myself so it's a little hard for me to give viable advice. I use the Timing Tuner that has various functions that allows for quick changes to the launch set-up. You apparently have the ability to change your activation RPM...meaning set the widow switch to activate the nitrous at say 500 rpm's above your launch (activation) rpm thus giving the car the opportunity to gain traction prior to that sudden hit of torque and make adjustment from there. The Timing Tuner also allows for a delay sequence (.2 thru .8) that will help support traction prior to the nitrous hit. Do you have this function available? If so start at .8 delay and then adjust the sequence accordingly to obtain the optimal launch. Hope this helps you some.
Edit, this is a conservative approach, but gaining traction is the important factor. You can not make viable adjustment if your blowing the tries away at launch...gain good traction first and then tweak for best results.

Thanks guys, I need to check. It's dynotune's system with the upgradeable window switch.
I should probably just go launch it on the street and see where the RPM's jump to. I'm not a big drag racer but I had a guy at the track last time suggested instead of loading the converter to 2000 like I was that I should just leave it at 0 rpm and nail it. I got my best 60' times that way but my only concern is if the n2o hits at the same time i may lose traction.
I would just raise the window switch to 4000 rpm and launch on the spray. By the time you hit 4k rpm you should have traction, and your shifts shouldn't drop below 4,000 rpm. I would, however, lower the window switch to 5800rpm.
Mine is a 2001 A4 with a 150 wet shot. Window switch is set at 3200 rpm. I leave on the nitrous from idle in D. That said, I also use MT ET Streets so I hook without issue.
Track should hook better, just try it out and go from there. Would be sweet if you had a nitrous controller that you adjust the ramp rate so it wouldn't shock the tires.
I never came back here... I think it was the temperature but I was ALL OVER THE PLACE without even spraying in first gear. I got one decent run in (12.5) but all my other runs were HORRIBLE launches.
Normally I can floor it with no traction loss from a stop and be fine... Definitely wasn't the case last time I went
