At sea level turbos produce so much excess boost that it must be vented by a "waste gate". This excess capacity allows them to maintain specified boost at higher altitudes.
Are superchargers waste gated? Or do they loose boost immediately as altitude increases?

no wastegate on a s/c. My buddy running a TT says the higher he goes the less boost...less power :( .less air

That little SC nissan pickup based SUV (extera?) reportadly maintains boost at 8- 9k feet. Acording to Motor trend anyway.

I have owned several TT and SC vechiles and they all lost boost at altitude. A 9.5 PSI at sea level will only be 7.5 at 5800 feet. That is actual experience, not technical BS.
