Default Aps tt ?

I recently had a c5 kit put on my 04 zo6. It has a stock ls6 with ecs fuel system and ecs alky kit. Totally built T56 with RST clutch. ECS brace and output shaft. I have to say the ECS products are pristine. My question is if I just get into boost around 3k and shift sometimes I get a shotgun bang type back fire. Every once in awhile if I shift in between gears at like 4500 BANG. Then today I did a 4th gear pull to 6k and Bang. Is this normal or is the car running to rich and igniting exhaust fumes. Second question is if I do a 2-3 power shift the car bogs for a split second then boost comes on. I imagine all this is probably normal for a FI car but just want to hear it from someone who's got the kit. Could the clutch not be broken in enough since I picked up the car a month ago and it only has 500-1000 miles. It dynoed 583 rwhp so I would imagine the rst would be up for the task. Waiting to call the speed shop based on opinions here. Thanks for the interest and/or comments.

It's at 7psi right now. Probably could go up a Pound or two.

Guys are saying I can run 9 psi without meth if the timing is 14 degrees.

With meth you could probably run 10psi and 18-19 degrees.

FYI, as a rule of thumb you gain 10rwhp for each degree of timing added.

The fact it's bogging (tune) and backfiring (tune).

I'm sure there's a lot more left on the table in the right hands.

Get a better tuner.

I figured as much just wanted to see if any other F/I guys had similar issues even with a good tune. I don't want to mention the tuner as I don't like to bash anyone as they are well known. I appreciate all the timely responses and will now contact them to let them know the present issues. I'll post back when the issue is corrected, however still appreciate insight, until then. Since I'm new here I would like to extend my gratitude as some other forums I may not have heard anything for a day or two.

The tuner has brought up a good point I believe. I had a 2 step LPE launch controller installed at the same time as the TT kit. Got a good price on it and thought why not. I like the fact that if I hold the clutch all the way down at the line the limiter will stop at 3500. However I did forget to mention this at the start of the thread. Could that be related to the issues since it's wired to activate when the clutch is fully depressed? I always kind of thought that was the cause anyway. I wouldn't mind a on/off switch wired into the dash after launch.

If its on it will activate every time you press in the clutch. Im getting on but wiring it to a momentary switch on a coiled wire instead of the clutch. That way I \Can hold the button with my hand on the shifter and let go after launch. I know for a fact it will not operate with the button being held.

Possibly. In fact I'll say likely. I don't know how the LPE controller works exactly but I have played with a poor mans two set by changing the neutral rev limiter to ~3500 via HPTuners but I did not like it because it kicks in as soon as the clutch inhibit switch kicks in (which is as soon as the pedal is touched in my car) it cuts off. So if I'm cruising around in a low gear and touch the pedal it cuts off.

I agree and will be unhooking the 2 step this weekend to see how drivability changes without it. Appreciate all the advice guys.

Chris,

Personally I would not activate the 2-step off the clutch.

When I owned a 6 speed turbo car I liked having the 2-step activated by the parking brake switch. That way I could pull up on the brake lever, go WOT then bring the clutch pedal up until it just started to grab.

Just my preference.

Update: after unplugging the launch controller to the coil pack harnesses the car runs perfectly. No backfiring and no bog in between powershifts. Just tons of boost creating kool aid smiles. Now I have a new question. I would like to leave the launch controller plugged in but have a autozone led switch to power on and off after launch or when I want to street drive the car. Is this possible since I still want it to run off clutch depression? Also I've been planning on creating a bracket to mount alky control, v1 concealed display, line lock, and now launch control switch into the ash tray area. Does anyone know of a write up or some direction on that matter. I do not need the cig lighter so that can be removed and use it's power if need be.
