Default 04 Cold plug problem

I installed a wet Zex nitrous system. I followed the recommended plug change for my stock LS1 and bought the Zex plugs. They say they are one step colder and are good for everyday driving. My car runs terrible and it stumbles and loads up at an idle. I have them gapped at .045. My question is has anyone had any trouble running the stock plugs with a 75 or 100 shot? The car has 17K miles and ran great stock, except for the fact that my son and I won 5 out of 18 1/8 mile runs! need a little extra. Any comments? Thanks......

You should run NGK BR7EF and gap at 32-35. I have no issues with those. I use them for a 100-150 shot. Zex honestly isn't the best kit and their HP rating is flywheel not RWHP.

What are you using to pull timing when the nitrous activates? You should prolly be pulling 5-6 degrees for a 100 shot.

I haven't run it yet, but my plan is to use the Predator tuner to retard the timing. I was going to retard about 2 degrees for the 100 shot and 4 to 8 degrees for the 150 to 175 shot. I was going to try the 75 shot first to see hot the stock run flats would do. I chose the Zex because of the simplicity. Very straight forward. I paid way to much for the Zex plugs. Are the NGK's reasonable? If the Zex kit is rated at the flywheel, does that mean I don't need to retard the timing as much? Thanks for the help.....

You need to only pull timing when the nitrous activates. If you use a predator isn't that timing pulled all the time? Unless you go back in and add timing back?

NGKs are about $2 a piece.

You should probably go to the nitrous section at ls1tech.com . They are very knowledgeable. I don't know what to tell you about the Zex except not many people like them. I didn't know they made plugs. You will need to read the plugs to get the timing and fuel correct. There are a lot of things to consider when tuning for N2O. That why simplicity really isn't a word that goes with N20 except maybe for hooking up so wires and hoses but that is really easy with any kit.
Do you have a window switch, bottle heater, purge kit (may be built into the Zex), WOT switch or TPS switch/controller?

I have the TPS switch, purge and window switch. The tuner takes out timing that I'll do before the races then return the tune to normal. OI read reviews on the Zex system and I thought it was ok. What can I say..... I'll try the NGK plugs and will check out the LS1 site. I've been on that one before. I really liked the remote solenoids of the Zex system. Everything fits so well in the inside of the battery inclosure. I only had to buy one new line for the fuel. I have an old school system in my 76. That one is NOS. It was never great. Old school plate. I'll try the NGK's. Thanks.....
