Default Rocker arm recommendations

I'm replacing my heads on my 347 TT setup. Going to AFR 230s which I can't find out much on. First has anyone any experience with the AFR 230 heads? Second I need to know what rocker arm to use. I can get a better price on Jesel rockers but I've heard they weren't best for my app. My only other alternatives IMO are the Comp cam 1500 or the same T&D rockers. Something about shims and the Jesel rockers with the AFR. Some techs: lift 620s. rev limit 7000. shift point 6800. Springs I don't know height yet as they are supposedly going to be custom springs. Probably 1.74 or so. Seat pressures in the 180 range intake with opening pressure about 540. Boost limit 20-22. Rockers 1.7 ratio. Normal hyd cam bearings. Caddy lifters.

On my TFS 215's I am using:

Harland Sharp RR's 1.7

There are also Yella terra RR's that can be used and many have had good success with them

I talked with TFS when I got my heads and went with their recomendation, you could do the same with AFR and see what they recommend.

Thanks,Matt

Would you recommend them over the Jesel or T&D rockers?

Jesel are good and I am not real familiar with the T&D rockers -

Others will chime in and I wouldn't hesitate to see which AFR recommends

I do know that I have had great success with my HS RR's. I've known others who have run them happily with AFR's

Thanks,Matt

Looking at around $380

http://www.jegs.com/i/Harland%20Shar...0002/-1?CT=999

Harland Sharp:
http://www.harlandsharp.com/ls1.htm

You can search the part number more and see if there is a better deal.

The big diff in the two is that the T&D has a small hole on top of the rocker that help oiling better than the other...

Well, there you go!

Greetings Robert - Going to the LA Auto Show in a while with the family
Good to hear from you

I am taking the Vette out next saturday the 4th of Dec to possibly hit the 9's!

I was not too familiar with the T&D's, but that is good info on them. I'm sure it'll help him out

Have a good day and "corvettesforfun" let us know what you decide on

Thanks,Matt

I use the Comp Cams #1500 on my V.

WHOO HOO!

You will need a 1/2" spacer (Jegs) to get them to fit without hitting the valve cover.

Here is a peek:

(note, you also have to "open up" the push rod holes to keep the push rods from rubbing)

Stay away from H. S (junk) ask any good builder they will tell you the same.
jessel is the way to go if you want to spend over seven bills, or for three bills you can get the next best rockers, Yella Terra altralites shaft mount.

I'm going to go with the YT rockers unless someone talks me into the T&D rockers. I think the Comp Cam 1500 are the same as the T&D. I do think I will need taller spacers for the T&D rockers and maybe nonstock valve covers. Is that true?

You can use the stock valve cover(s) with the Comp Cams 1500, but you may have to Dremel out every boss and baffle (I did).

I got a 1/2" spacer from Jeg's to lift them up.

They work bitchin.
