I'm looking for options as far as most reliable / safest nitrous setups on these cars and what the max safe shot is? I'm assuming a direct port 150 shot is the best way to go? I have a corsa catback and powerduct with MAF straightener and I will be doing a nitrous cam when adding the kit. I'd rather not do headers or any other mods as I went the car as close to stock as possible for everyday driving but then still be able to perform at the drag strip. Please let me know what you did and what your car runs, thanks!
Ive had nitrous on every one of my LS1/ LT1 cars ive owned, they all performed well on it.
are you new to nitrous? i would definitely reccomend professional installation if you are. there is a LOT that goes into it that people forget about, including safety features and what to check, or look for.
otherwise, ive done dry kits, wet kits, nozzles, plates, everything but direct port. I personally am finishing my 2 stage wet/dry 100-125 hp kit.
Nitrous Outlet and Harris Speedworks and Dynotune are the go to guys in my opinion. fair pricing and REAL LIVE customer support from nitrous users. i wouldnt even need to shop elsewhere. you would most likely benefit from one of the 78mm plate kits if you have the stock intake on your car. no need for upgraded injectors, etc. just get a timing tuner, window switch, and a wet plate kit and you will have tons of fun with it. i reccomend 100-150 shot on your car. let me know if you have any questions i may be able to help with! -Jeremy
Most places won't recommend a direct port for anything under a 200 shot. I would just go with a plate kit from Nitrous Outlet. They sell vehicle specific kits that make for a clean installation. I don't understand why you would be willing to do a cam but not headers if you want the car as stock as possible. Are you just refering to appearance?
From what I understand, jetting for anything less than a 200 shot in a direct port system is difficult at best. A nozzle is just as effective as a plate system for a 100 shot even though it doesn't look as clean of an install.
A cam really helps the engine breath... You are restricting it significantly by not doing headers.
I use the Harris Speed Works wet nozzle kit with the microedge controller. It's a great controller. I use the LNC-002 to pull timing.
Cool thats the answers I was looking for ... I had a direct port 200 shot on my camaro but I don't want to go to crazy on this car. I want a cam for the sound and to get more power but I don't want headers because I won't be racing the car much and don't want the constant noise / drone etc.
