I still have the stock 2000 alt. power steering bracket. I replced the idler pulley because it was noisy, not sure if the play in it was really my problem though. I still have the noise and it sounds like maybe the dust cover is rubbing, not sure. However what worries me is that the bearing slid on and off the post on the bracket way too easily, in fact it is sloppy.
I was looking at adding the flip drive a liitle down the road, but if it eliminates this week point and gives me the added bonus of no belt slip and longer acc. life than it will be well worth doing it now.
It will replace the idler between the power steering and crank pulleys on the driver side. You'll end up cutting that entire section off your alternator bracket to install a flip drive.

Don't worry about how the bearing fits on the bracket, after the bolt is tightened it's not going to move. As long as the shoulder isn't damaged and the bearing seats squarely then you're OK.
