Default Does this make sense?

I posted a couple of weeks ago about an inconsistency problem. First run was fast, all others were half a second slower (nitrous runs). I have ruled out bottle pressure which was everyone's suggestion.

The local Thunder Motorsports place in town told me that after my first run of 11.060, the PCM was resetting variables to "protect" the car from exceeding certain perameters. His suggestion to test this was to disconnect the battery after the first run, let it sit for a while, reconnect and let the PCM reset, then run again.

Two questions: Does this make sense, and what do you do if it's true?

IMO I do not buy the "resetting variables" for protection. If it was not the bottle pressure then I think it may have been KR. When I got KR on a n/a run or a nos run I always saw my times go down the next run, because the pcm never gave me back my timing. It switched to the lower octane spark table. Now with a TTS, LS1edit or similar you can get rid of this.
If you disconnect the batt or pull the 16 and 23 fuse on the fuse box in the engine bay the pcm will be in learning mode for awhile. So I really would not want my pcm in so called learning mode for WOT nitrous runs.

Cole told me that once you fill up with 5 gallons of gas your spark table is reset. TRy using some toulene on your nitrous runs....

maybe there is something else.... I will think about it more...

jpvette,

I missed your other thread.

The PCM issue doesn't sound right, but, what do I know. Did Rippie do your programming? Do you have any details on the programming i.e. fuel tables/maps, codes removed, etc?

I just throw out a couple of other items here...
Is the "inconsistency problem" repeatable or was it a one-time deal?

What was the tranny temp on the first run? Following runs? Do you feel any slipping?

Have you replaced the solenoids yet. One could be sticking

I noticed your running the Maximizer, can you get that out of the loop temporarily just for testing? Also, no timing tricker or MAFT device in the mix right???

I too have noticed the same behavior with my procharger installation, I thought it to be heat soaking of the blower & intercoolers plus a little on the rich side, Don't really know what the solution is.
