I noticed that when I was installing the stock plug wires on my car, they sit right against the header. What are my options? Do they make ones that you can bend to make them fit properly? Or some kind of heat shield? Or maybe another option? Thanks.
im not running the shields on mine. You can get some heat socks from the auto parts. I had to clearance the header flange on mine, but mine are not from HP and I could not remove the plugs with the headers on.
To help the turbos with heat you might also consider wrapping the header and feed pipe to the turbo.
Heat socks and similar insulation won't last in the long run...!
The heat will gradually go through the insulation as long there is no ventilation of air between!
You can compare it with taking on a asbestosglove and grab the headers or something else with your hands. At first you won't feel the heat but after a while the heat WILL soak through the insulated glove and burn you.
This is basic physics!
The only serious alternative is getting wires with angled boots to prevent direct contact with header.

That's true.On my single turbo I had to finally pull the header and massage the area were the plug wire touched. In the mean time you can use a sock and some header wrap and change the wire every couple of weeks.I always wanted to try the porcelain boots. It's too bad they don't make longer plugs.
I have been looking for angled boots, but I can't seem to find them. I shaved some of the rubber off the of the thick part of the wire and now it isn't touching. I had to take the metal shield off, but a heat sock will get me by for a while. Only the two fronts on the passenger side are giving me trouble.
Regular MSD wires work just fine. The boots are straight but you can bend the to about 45* and they'll stay that way.
I've never had a problem with headers and these wires. Keep them off the headers and heat socks are not needed.
