Default recommendations please...motor build?

Hey Guys,

Please help me with the best combo for a budget FI motor build.

What are the must haves on parts....keeping costs down....but being smart!

Goal will be around 750-800rwhp D1sc or YSI
car will be used mostly for hard mountain fun driving!

iron 6.0 36x around 10.5 compression i was thinking...but open to suggestions!

Cam Ls9 zr1 ?
Springs?
Litters?

Propper fuel system
Alky injection
stock crank?
Forged pistons....should i go dished? what specs? coated or not?
arp bolts
317 heads?
rods...can i go stock or is that looking for trouble?

mostly need budget motor advice....

Thanks!

An iron block is great for strength and should help keep cost down if you don't want to use your current block. With compression that high, you will likely have to run low(er) boost levels and possibly a hefty amount of methanol. If you went with a lower CR, you could run higher levels of boost and be safer.

The stock crank will suffice for your power goals easily. Choose a forged piston that fits your desired CR and definitely get forged rods. Also, 317 heads are a great budget FI head, as I run the same ones and they have been great so far.

So, I'd look to get a compression ratio in the mid-9's with the 317 heads, forged pistons and rods, spray the meth and have fun. All you have to do is make the decision on what block you want because any of the available blocks will get you to your desired HP goals.

My car will be used at 4500 ft to 8500 ft elevation....so I was thinking the higher compression will help?

Tuned with 91 octane and meth added for safety only!

If me wouldnt go over 10:2 max. This way will be good at low RPM then after your into it, will not run out on top end with a little more boost in the car. Just my 2 cents.... Man have fun with it and be safe...

Agree with stock crank. Would go with dished and coated forged pistons. Don't go cheap on them or the rings. You can go with used forged rods if you can find some. I wouldn't use the stock rods. Make sure your fuel system is up to the task. A lean condition only takes a second to ruin an engine even a forged one. You can use the stock manifold and TB. Think about a bigger radiator.

Then you need to plan for your drivetrain. A stock drivetrain can only stand up to 800HP for a short time. Possibly a very short time. Don't forget your wheels and tires either. I would minitub the rear, too.

Are you looking for 750-800 RWHP at 4500 ft elevation or 750-800 RWHP SAE corrected?

If it's the latter, you should choose the 6.0 iron block and find a set of thick deck heads, forget the 317's.

Good luck on the build.
