Default vortech V-2 SQ impeller shaft nut torque?

i have a vortech V-2 SQ supercharger an getting info about rebuilding it. i need info on the impeller shaft nut thats holds down the impeller? how many ft pounds of torque? some one told me 45 pounds seem like a lot!!!

I just hit that nut with my impact gun. If guess maybe 50-75 ft/lbs is what I end up with. Your not gonna get a correct torque reading anyway while trying to keep pulley absolutely stationary while tightening by hand.

Are you talking about the drive pulley bolt torque or the impeller nut? 50-75 seems high, but I don't know. I would use Loctite no matter what.

I remember reading about a guy rebuilding one over on corral.net (mustang forum) This was awhile back. There was some info. Vortech head units are very popular with the mustang crowd. Might be worth a look. A Vortech head unit is a Vortech head unit regardless what it's installed on.

If your not replacing seal riding surface (looks like a washer), then just thighten a little past factory mark (permanent marker line) and you'll be fine.

i did put a shim on the washer .003 to get it with in spec!

Then just take it back to factory mark... I usually go 10 or so degrees past it, but with shim, think you'll be fine. Oh, done this way many times with no issue.
