Default Trans removal

Going to be doing trans install I believe this weekend I did a search and couldn't find a straight answer. I want to pull the trans and converter to swap in my stage 6 rpm, vigilante converter 3000. Can I do this without dropping the torque tube? I really don't want to drop the torquetube because of the extra work... Let's hear you input guys and any tipsand tricks.

I will be using a 2 post lift with a few buddys.

I'M pretty sure you have to take out the TT.. in 6 sp, the clutch is on the back of the motor... if the converter is no there, then yes, it can be done easily without taking the TT out.

Yea converter is mounted in the rear, at the back of the TT. So i would assume with that being left as it is and just unbolted it can be done?

Anything i should lookout for in these?

4 bolts on cradle, disconnect wires,TT bolts, one 10mm ground, and 2 brake lines right above the trans, and pull it apart.. simple and simple

just hang the calipers

you can even leave the mufflers up in place, just take zip ties and tie them up to the fuel tank covers

This is for a 6 speed.Once you get close the auto is almost the same. With a 2 post it will be even easier.I did mine 2 years ago and it was my first big job on a C5.NP.You can also Google "remove transmission C5 Corvette."Always keep the motor supported right through the whole procedure.Good luck.

No need to drop the torque tube. Just pull the rear plug on the TT housing and unbolt the converter.

Disconnect all of the cables, connectors, etc... and drop it down.

I would drain transmission and lines before beginning.

If it were me I would go ahead and remove it, replace the bearings and bushings in it and be done for another xxxxx miles. My bearings were going out on mine!

That's because your car is running a blower making big horsepower and torque.

Dropping the tranny is pretty simple. I did it with the car on jackstands, in my garage, without any help. You don't need to drop the torque tube.
