Default Webb kills E85?

I just got a quote from A&A on their S/C kit with 80# injectors to support E85. I'm worried about the availability of E85 in the future. I live in a city of over 400k, and there are only two gas stations that carry E85. This city is in middle of the most productive corn country in the world too.

U.S. Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va wrote a bill that would end the Federal subsidy for corn-based ethanol. If this bill is passed, no station will carry E85 because the lack of demand due to E85 costs.

Do you think it's safer to stick with 91 octane 100% gasoline / 93 octane E10 and run Methanol (washer fluid) injection? Anybody else worried?

....on an 80lb reputable injector, this won't be an issue. Rescale/tune and your good to go. Now, if you were running a 160lb injector,...and going from e85 to pump 90's.....it'd be a lot harder to reflash and idle properly. Could be done though.

Hoping E85 sticks around...

Its a great fuel really for us performance guys more than anyone. There are Blow through bbc and sbc set ups out their running near 30 psi of boost with no intercooler on e85, its just nasty

Even if they get rid of it at the stations we should still be able to order it from racing fuel companies I would hope. (yea i know that would suck but its better than nothin)

If you're in corn country, look around for some legal private fuel distilleries. A friend of mine just just found one, and switched from pump E85 to largely pure ethanol. He wasn't looking for more power, but it allowed him to remove the intercooler and keep the same power.

I think the price was about the same, but I don't know whether government subsidies were involved.

I doubt E85 is going anywhere. The industry employs over 400K and ethanol is trading at under 2.50. Not to mention the impact it would have on rural America.
