Default Hoods/Louvers

How many like the Run Cool Louvers that you install in your stock hood? Since the turbo install heat build up is always on my mind. I dont mind spending the $$ for a new hood, but I just dont want a bunch of parts laying around

Thanks,
The Big Dog

Never seen them, but then I've never been a big fan of louvers anyway.
Now a nice MCM hood would look good and you could always sell your stock one to help offset the cost.

From the pictures, that ^ doesn't look too bad. Definitely functional. Bet it just about killed you to make the first cut.

I've been waiting for someone to come out with a hood similar to the ACP hood without the center hump.

I don't think I'd go the Run Cool louvers though.. a little to "rugged" look for a vette.

Thanks man,..i'm all about function first and foremost, everything else is secondary. You'd think it was nerve racking but,...I already blew that hood open one night with a well thought out(not really) nitrous backfire ..which tweaked the hood,...and also gave it the tiniest spider cracks in the dead center, near the NACA ducts. We didn't flinch diving into it. Worse case,..i'll find another stock hood and molest that one.

....just in case anyone thought we didn't make it fit properly,..heres a few closer shots...

The NACA ducts feed the turbos directly,...the larger re openings evacuate the heat from the turbos/headers/DP... Everything works,... and it didn't cost me 1500 bucks.

Notice the hood tweak on the bottom.... blown out from the backfire. (hood and headlights are not in final location).

Thanks man...I have access to an extra hood that I wouldn't mind trying this out on. Would help a ton with heat and I never drive the car in bad weather bc of the DRs on the back

No problem. Got a little hectic today so I looked for about a minute, and was taken away by work right after. I'll look again....if not,..I can make something I am sure. I may even have the original cutouts. If not, I'll just make new ones.

I'm REALLY happy with the overall look,..truly stoked to know that it is going to really work,..as they sit right above the headers,...hopefully while it's moving the air will pass through the turbos and out these hatches.

Hood structure did have to be cut/notched in certain areas. There is just no way around it. I can get the same vents design wise a hair smaller but,...in my eye,...I don't think it would fit right. There small enough to where if I felt I REALLY needed, I could possibly add them to my current equation. But,..no plans currently.

Thanks again, lemme know if you guys need different shots or something.

-J

EDIT-

These DO stick out of the hood probably about a half inch.... if your dying to know(understandable reasons) I can measure it tomorrow, how far they protrude out, no problem.

lemme know.
