I have not had my s/c but a couple of months, and already thinking about building a second engine "just in case" My block is a stock LS1 now, and wondering what "crate LS" engine would be the strongest for s/c power that would be a direct drop in replacement. One that would have all the parts to support 1000 hp. I was told that I had to use race fuel for extended periods of wot. I don't want to have to worry about when to back off the throttle.
I don't think many crate engines will fit the bill for 1k hp. Your best bet is to go forged pistons and all arp throughout. You don't need big cubes to make big power.
GM now makes a few forged engines that would work one guy in the c6 section is using one to make nearly 900rwhp through an auto...
However you would be much better off going with a good sponser on the forum and getting something built to your needs... If you dont want to use race gas the bigger the motor the better and if you can use race gas all you really need is a stock CI motor with good parts and decent heads, add in a bunch of boost and call it a day...
