What are you high HP guys running? I am shooting for 1000+ through a 6 speed. I have a 99, so it's a 10 mm torque tube
Are you sure what you are saying here. The TT are the same sizes in the cars. I am thinking the couplers bolts going into the driveshaft in the auto cars where 10mm bolts and the stick cars were 12mm bolts. Some are running a aluminum rear and the urethane in the front. Robert
There seems to be some mixed results on this topic.
Some run the solid couplers or one solid / one rubber. Some run the Prothane 6-shooters. Some run RPM couplers.
I pulled mine out to inspect them and I have never replaced them. They are in perfect condition with no signs of wear or cracks. They also say "made in Germany" on them, which are the good versions.

Kinda... The 97-99 M6 cars have 10mm bolts in the couplers. The 01+ M6 are 12mm. The whole tube assembly must be swapped when upgrading to the newer one.
If I were shooting for 1k rwhp.. I would get a 12mm tube and then upgrade it with either solid of poly couplers. Or you could do the driveshaft too. Don't forget to replace the bearings as well for precaution.
Yeah. I guess that is the best route. I just didn't want to pay shipping on a torque tube. Haha. I might as well get an 01+

If you are building a 1000+ HP car, then paying shipping on the torque tube is the least of your problems.
When selecting couplers, ECS driveshaft etc, you need to consider the style of driving. A 1000 hp car driven on the street is a lot different than a 500 hp car driven on the drag strip.

thats true. i don't mind vibrations as long as the car won't vibrate itself to pieces

it does not cost anymore to replace them when they break then it does to replace them when they don't... I have not broken any yet..in fact every time i look at mine, they look new.
Not that i make 1000...its only a true Texas 433hp
The stock couplers are supposedly good to 1000hp. Not sure I believe that. However, I'd inspect them when you pull the transmission and make your decision then. You will need a built transmission for that much HP.
