Default Intercooled Maggie Cooling Tricks?

Do you Intercooled Maggie owners have any tricks for keeping things cooler at the strip on hot days? Temps were in the mid 90's here last week and my baby really struggled. ET drops off a full 3-4 tenths in the hot weather. I don't like the idea of setting bags of ice on top of the blower or intercooler tank (right over the battery and PCM) for fear of leaks and related problems. Are there any add-ons that can help like an in-line ice tank to pass the blower coolant through? I once saw something like a NOS spray on the intercooler heat exchanger but I don't know if that has any merit. I understand Maggies don't like water/alky sprays but I could be mis-informed. Any ideas will be appreciated.

You can use dry ice for a quick fix at the track and it wont drip anything...

It can get $$$ but spraying NOS over the intercooler tank. I know this will help you big time....

lots of debate over rotar delamination on maggies with meth/water... 100% meth hasn't been implicated in too many cases (I've never seen one torn down with issues that has ran 100% meth) so that's one option.

Other options... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110957

I'll be pulling the trigger on an ECS alky kit next week. 100% Meth seems to be safe from most feedback on the maggies. Albeit nobody has given a total green light on it. I know your heat soak pain though, I was out running around this last weekend in low 90 temps and did a couple of stops, decided to get on it on the way home a bit. Felt like I was down a 100hp, felt really anemic compared to it's normal self. It was bad enough that I was concerned and took the car out the next night and just drove it enough to get the engine fluids up to temp and tried again, it was its old self. So it must have been the heat soak that really sapped the power big time. I also made a post on a home built airscoop/airdam I made to try and force more air through the heat exchanger. It helped my radiator cooling, fans come on far less, but didn't take any before and after IAT readings to see how much it helped the maggie, but it certainly had to help it.

I'd suggest contacting Steve@RSD, he completely re-designed the cooling portion of his Maggie system. He does drags, auto-x, etc. in his car.

BIGMAC,
We sell a great kit to eliminate heat soak. We call it the RSD MAggie Cool Down Kit. It consist of a larger coolant tank, larger heat exchanger that has an electric fan, and you supply the labor.
Here is a link to it;http://www.racespecialtydesigns.com/...&cat=33&page=1
I developed this kit on my own Maggie charged C5. I have raced it for many years and it stays deadly consistent even on the hotest days. You will need to bring a few bags of Ice to the track with you, I keep mine in a roll around ice chest in the stagging lanes with me or the pits.
My car stay withing hundredths and sometimes thousandths run after run with my Maggie charged stock LS1 with the Maggie cool down kit.

providing a fan on the heat exchanger and the ability to run the inter-cooler pump and fan with the engine off will help a lot

I had written conformation from Magnuson years ago when we started using meth injection stating they had no problem with us running straight meth. (but I do not have it saved)

so Steve's kit is a bigger coolant tank & a fan, right? more of an add-on than replacements? i'm asking because i'm in the process of installing mine right now & don't wanna put parts on that might just eventually come off...

That's what we do. I have a remote fan and intercooler pump switch under the hood that I have on while I am icing it down.
The intake gets totally cold in just a few minutes. The larger tank supports a lot more ice.

can always machine a spacer plate and spray after the rotors, but that creates issues of it's own.. Someone yank that lower manifold apart and put some meth nozzles in it!

Yes it was, we thought it might eat away at the rotor coating eventually causing it lose some boost, but we have never had an issue.

Not quite,
The new bigger tank replaces the battery and the plastic tank. The Heat exchanger replaces the stocker and the fan is attached to the heat exchanger.
I took the front bumper off to install the heat exchanger and the relays and wiring. The result are a huge diffrence over the MagnaCharger kit. And by moving the heat exchanger out of the path of the radiator and CAI the engine was way happier. Lower AIT's and cooler air to the radiator.

Steve,

Where exactly is the battery relocated too? trunk? Just curious in case I decide to go with this kit at a later date. I didn't seet his offered, but do you sell the kit in parts as well, such as just the larger coolant tank, always thought the factory piece was kinda small.

Patrick,
I relocated my Battery to the passenger side compartment in the trunk area. Just like a C6Z06. I used a C6Z06 battery which has a drain tube down and out of the car and the tech inspectrors never hassle me at all.
Yes we could work out the price on that tank without the rest, If you are really interested I can get an estimate of shipping on just that peiece for you. Let me know,

Steve

Thanks Steve,

Probably be my next engine project. I just ordered an Alky Controls kit from ECS that I have to get going and tuned first. Might not be a bad idea to move that battery back farther anyway to offset the Maggies weight on the nose. Looks like that tank is at least double the capacity of the stock magnusson unit.
