My car is over at Cunningham Motor Sports having an A&A blower kit installed, and I've been reading about the advantages of meth injection. The guys at CMS tell me that there isn't a CARB legal kit for California. Also, every kit I have found on the internet says it is for racing only, which pretty much backs up what CMS is telling me, so I was wondering if anyone in CA has meth injection on their car, and how you deal with the periodic smog inspections.
Technically not legal (like most things in CA), but it is not spraying for the smog test so it is not effecting your emissions test at all. Just mount the nozzle on the bottom side of the pipe or something so its not as obvious or if they ask just say "its part of the kit" and most smog techs wouldnt know the difference.
I have "NEVER" had any issues with the Smog and the Meth, all it is is a line going to the intake tube - and they don't care nor ask what it is -
It only comes on when in Boost and it is cheap easy and safe insurance for Boosted cars! I say do it - Ryne will also be tuning mine with my Meth and the new D1SC and fuel system!
Had my car smogged twice already without issues and I have a big yellow "Methanol" cap on my reservoir.
I believe the new law is OBDII hook-up and "tail pipe only" anyway.
Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'm being paranoid about it. I'm sure you're right about the techs not being able to tell with all of the stuff on today,s cars. I remember all of the hassles I had with my 72 LT1 and am transferring it to this car. I owned the 72 for 21 years and got hassled about the unpainterd aluminum high rise manifold, Holley carb, chrome air cleaner and chrome valve covers almost every time I had it smogged, even though it was bone stock.
I've been running meth for 3 years and been smogged twice. You can't see my system except one braided stainless line that comes up behind the alternator and screws into the top of the throttle body. Looks factory but the tech wouldn't know anyway. Worst case is to say it's just say it's water injection. It won't even come up, he's too busy looking at the supercharger and it's carb #. Rod
