Default Should I keep pushing my ls6?

I just recently picked up a D1 and dont know if I should pull the trigger and put it on. Just got my car retuned by race proven motorsports on full meth about a month ago and it put down 698 whp 578 tq at 10 psi. Car runs great and I know im prob pushing it as it is but I want to hear from some guys who pushed the stock ls6 and see how far they went. I was just going to leave the boost the same and just put the D1 on. Let me know what you guys think.

Just order a motor and right before it arrives, put the D1 on and step on it!

You can run a smaller pulley and get the same amount of Boost @ 10 psi but will deliver more volume down low thus making more RWTQ and perhaps a little more RWHP due to the D1!

If you leave the same pulley you will be looking at right around 4.5+ PSI and a lot more volume!

I'd say do it but be conservative or you might toast your motor. I slapped on my D1 but installed a dual nozzle over my single nozzle Meth, and I am in the process of installing a second fuel pump set-up for fuel!

Fuel is the most important! You need plenty of fuel to feed the beast!

Thanks,Matt

That's a ton of power with stock heads and 10psi!

I made 714/614 over a year ago and cranked it up another 1.5psi since on my ls6. It's not a risk, but it sure if fun.

Yeah my tuner told me I should be good and the car runs great right now. I couldnt ask for any more but you always want that little extra haha. I just wanted to see if anyone was really pushing the ls6 over 700 and it holding up for a little while. User_name what was your setup when you made 714? Also I figured using the same pulley I would be at the same boost with the D1? Im not trying to get greedy and go up 4 psi if thats whats gonna happen ha.

If you leave the boost the same, not much will change, except you might get slightly lower intake air temperatures.

Almost 700rwhp @ 10psi is pretty impressive. I would save for a motor just in case if you go with the D1 and plan on raising the boost....which I'm sure you'll want to do. If the motor goes, build it bigger and better!

It's not a matter of IF, it is when it will happen. I was at 657/562 running a P1 with meth 8psi on my all stock LS6 and it made it around 14K miles. Lost ring land on 2 and 5. I am currently breaking in my new forged 383 that has a D1. With the larger cam, C.I. and another 4-5 psi with all the supporting mods we are hoping for around 800.

Keep going till it goes, just hope that when it does it is not catastrophic to the engine block, etc. I was lucky and it did nothing to mine.

I forget the specs on my cam but yea I have a bap and a racetronic intank pump and then the dual nozzel meth setup. Yeah I was making 680/550 before the little retune and have about 4k with it like that. I dont know how other people drive but I really like running my car and has been very dependable. Thats awesome your pushing that many pounds of boost! 17 psi is crazy and im over here worried about 10 haha.

Yes.

As for psi. It is just a measure of restriction. Stock heads, hi-flo cats, stock catback, tb, intake, etc bring it up.

NO! You will be higher with the D1 and the "SAME" pulley you are currently running -

You will be looking at 4.5+ PSI extra of Boost!

Thanks,Matt

Default Wow!

This all makes me feel better. Here I am at 10.2psi stock bottom end with 540HP at the wheels thinking to take it easy. Those are great numbers gentlemen, way to go! But like mentioned earlier, a lot comes down to the tuning. More gas, meth, fuel pump to back it up, etc. I'm kinda curious on your IAT's and what there running? I'm thinking very hard on meth/water injection just for insurance only or some type of FMIC sprayer to help. It's been 103 degrees here in Texas almost everyday this week and not into summer time yet!

Yup. In the mean time put in good bolts and quality fuel and crank the boost.

If it's running great now, don't touch it.

Mine let go after a couple years of pushing 700rwhp. No warning signs, it seems like a rod or piston just snapped and caused a chain reaction of destruction inside the motor. Oh well I couldn't see fixing a perfectly good motor, and now I can.

I pretty much agree. If you haven't had some fun racing people and getting numbers at this level just leave it alone. A setup with out issues is something to value. Step it up when this power level just isn't fun anymore.
