Default Supercharger build thread

I would like to share my build up here with everyone. I am in the parts collecting phase right now however I have just completed my brake upgrade to make sure I have enough woah for all the new go! I am working with an 02 convertible with 100k miles and a stock bottom end. I purchased a used A&A kit here on the forum as the basis for the build up.

Here is the parts list so far
A&A bracket and intercooler
Vortec V2 head unit
6 rib setup with 3.8 pully
innovators west 8" overdrive pully
60 lb. injectors
NGK TR6 plugs
ACT twin disk clutch T1S-G01
New GM throwout bearing master and slave
RPM torque tube couplers
Lingenfelter fuel pump
KB boost a pump
ECS alky kit
Comp cams cam bolt lock plate
autometer cobalt fuel and boost gauge
TPS Motorsports rotors
Hawk HPS pads
Mike the powdercoater calipers

As of now the plan is to complete the install myself and trailer the car up to http://www.raceprovenmotorsports.net/ for the dyno tune. Same place I got my baseline done in Jan. Came up with 322 hp and 338 tq with only B&B bullets. And here are some pics of what I have so far.

So there it is, let me know what you think. I suppose it should be a pretty stout setup. I want to make sure I have all the bases covered and don't end up missing some vital link in making this a reliable street setup.

You might want to contact Innovators West for their specific pinning jig. There's lots of material to drill through and you will break bits if you don't have a jig that will guide the bit the entire way to the crank snout. I tried a few different pinning kits with my IW and none of them worked (except for IW's). FWIW...

The A&A Pinning Kit works just fine and I have used it many times. The crank is easy to drill and use a good bit. The system should put you ~530 rwhp without Meth. Obviously, a little more on Meth.

I'll be on the ECS alky kit, id like to see about 550. Got the fuel pump and boost-a-pump put on today. Being that this was a used kit, I was not sure how well wiring that up would go. To my surprise the harness attached to the BAP had all the connectors and a racetronix relay already set up, so all I had to do was plug and play.

Ok, and after looking around on the forum for a while. I went to the racetronix website and I looks like I have their harness. Which is a good reason why this was such an easy self explanatory install. Looks like I can go back and take the lead off the batterie and move it over to the alternator though.

The racetronix wiring kit is usually an extra cost item. I like it since it requires no cutting of the stock wiring for the BAP. Also, the lug can be installed on the alternator output lug. Sounds like you bought a nice kit.

Is the Innovators balancer an 8-rib?

I believe so, but from what I read here it will work with your kit (the 6 rib setup)?

Figured I'd share a little update. Im about at the half way point in the build right now. Got the car up on jack stands and everything is off. Just threw in the ACT clutch a couple hours ago. That thing is a piece of art. it was 9.5 lbs lighter than the stock one 51 lbs and 40.5 comparably flywheel to pressure plate. A couple of notes on the clutch install, a little heat from the oxy acetylene torch and the pilot bearing comes out a touch easier. and from my experience to get the ACT pressure plate on the bell housing had to be scooted back about a 1/2 in. which added an hour to the install. I got the fuel filter swapped out and replaced the left axle seal. I decided to pull the tail pipes for the install b/c when dropping the unit they were in the way. I should be able to get her back in tomorrow.

As for the supercharger I got the front end all apart too. The cam bolts are locktited and held down with locking tabs. The IW crank is on and pinned. the pan is set up for the drain line. Due to going with the 8 rib crank I decided to just order an 8 rib conversion. why waist 2 ribs on a crank. so the PS pulley is on and appears aligned as best I can tell with the laser rig. Got my oil lines ran and put the rack back in.

Well thats about where I am at. at this point I can say I truly enjoy working on this car, for the most part everything is going smoothly. No big hang ups, having the torch came in handy on several occasions. My only gripe is the damn abs module blocking the PS pulley, but that is the price you pay for working on a corvette.

I noticed you mentioned nothing about headers..... so I am assuming you are not going to install headers on this build?

Good thing you're going 8-ribs on the blower because the balancer would have rubbed without spacing the the bracket away from the motor by .250". That would have forced you to move the pulleys toward the rear by .250".

Yep no headers at this time. Its always possible in the future though. as time goes on an my bank account recovers I see a forged rotating assembly in my future along with headers and some other supporting mods. Just going for a nice reliable 500-550 mark for now.

yea, after I put the blower up on there I realized the alignment was all out of whack with the crank. so I called A&A and we talked about what it would take to get the 6 rib working and by that time all I needed was a couple more pulleys to make it 8 rib. so what the hell do it right or don't do it at all I say.

well I started her up last night, everything looked well but when I came out in the morning there was a puddle of coolant under there. So off it all came. I thought it was a gasket leak, but upon further inspection I could not tell if it was that or the shaft seal. so in went a new one. Just got her back together and took it around the block without a hood or bumper cover. No Leaks! and the clutch is woking as it should. Now time for dyno prep...
