I can understand your position, but have to ask, as it is unclear in your post. Did you pay this guy any money for the work (even though bad) and for the trailering it seems he provided? Just curious.
yep i paid him for the engine build/swap and procharger install

OK, then I would ask him to at least reimburse you for that at a minimum ( with the possible exception of the Procharger install unless that was done badly as well) and then ask him to settle with you on a fair and reasonable amount for the work to repair his work. If he refuses I would then take him to court and sue for the actual costs paid to him for work done badly, the cost of the repairs/rework and attorney fees and court costs. Sorry to hear of your troubles and good luck.
Tough break man.I think we have all gone through this one at least one time.Forget court. If you doen't have reciepts and if he isn't a licenced shop, you won't win.He can lie through his teeth and nothing can be proven.I hope you have better luck in the future.

it's the risk you take not going to a shop, just because a shop can be held liable while it is much more difficult with a guy doing side jobs.
The builder needs to be held responsible for the engine he built. Might have to take him to court.
Get a full report of what Mayhem found and let the engine builder know that he should and needs to pony up or it is off to court and the a report to the BAR Association ans well as the Better Business Bureau !

OMG! WOW! More pain! -
(1)Is there a friend whom you can borrow their car for a while to get around?
(2) Is there a family member willing to lend you the funds to have the Vette finished and done right? then you can use it for a while as a DD and finished.

(3) Perhaps a Bank personal loan?
Thanks,Matt
definately more pain brutha!
no friends that have a extra car
i have no family to borrow anything from
cant get a loan thanx to a drunk driver who hit me head on at 60mph and laid me up for quite a few years which in turn i had to file for bankrupt because of bills etc as a result of not being able to work!
Sucks but it is time to sell the procharger, meth kit, etc. Where is the 440rwhp motor you had in it before? If you still have it why not throw that in the vette until life gets better? If you don't have it the money from the procharger, etc will help get you on back on the road.

I don't like hearing these kind of story's. It seems to come
up every so often.
You are a victim and you probably will not recieve a thing.
I would go back to the guy and say I was turning it over
to a lawyer and offer to take installment payments in lieu
of the lawyer.
Let's face it the lawyer will want upfront money that you
don't have and if the guy wont pay installments you might
have to chalk it up to experience and move on.
I don't like these kind of stories.
Good luck.
Looks like your in VA. Small claims court would be the way to go. I doubt your claim is more than $5000. Sell off the supercharger parts and get the ls2 back together. Live to mod another day.
