Default Alky control failure

Battery died now alky control doesn't work. The pumps red light comes on but won't turn green. I kind of remember reading a thread about this somewhere. I know ECS will know how to remedy this, but until I call them tomorrow, does anyone know why this happened?

Join the club. I wish I knew the answer too. I was told that maybe mine is related to having water get on the pump, because of where the pump is located. It is placed inside the fender right where water will drain right on the top of the pump.

Do you have a rubber on the pump itself. Give Julio a p.m. on here man he knows more about these than anyone in here. He will help you with no problems at all. He got me thur my problems very nice guy.... Robert

I did have the car washed, and literally went away on vacation 2 days later without driving it. So i really don't know if it was working after the wash. Don't think that much water if any got in there.

No rubber on the pump. Didn't and don't drive in the rain and hasn't been in water except for the car wash, which like i said, I don't think any water got in there. I'll give ECS a call and see what they say, then Julio a PM if necessary. Thanks

It could be water related as there is a long bolt going through the long axis of the pump and if you pull it out and its full of rust, chances are it's burned up.

What do you have your dial set to?

I haven't the slightest idea. I don't know all the workings, i"m embarrassed to say. On the ride back from picking it up, it was working fine.

Me too. Took the car to be tuned with meth, pump didn't work??? Was working a couple weeks ago, dummy me didn't check it before going to tune. Took it apart yesterday, pump was FULL of water. I had mounted it pump end up, right under the vent slot drains. Rubber boot caught all the water. Easy fix, flip the pump, let the boot do it's job to deflect, not store, water. Anyway, same symptom, red LED, no green. Pump is junked, probably fixable, but why trust it. Julio took care of me, a new pump is on it's way. $150 mistake though, (not to mention missed tune opportunity).

I know ECS will find the problem, as they are a great vendor. I've only delt with two vendors when it comes to my engine, that's ECS and Cartek. They both took care of any problem that might have come up after any work was done. I'm not feeling the prospect that it may be from washing the car though. We'll see in the next day or so.

Well, took the vette back to ECS today. Was supposed to leave it, but Doug asked me if i wanted them to check it out while i was there, being that i drove a little ways to get to them. Turns out the pump just failed, no water issues or anything to do with the battery being changed. They swapped the bad one out for a new one and everything is fine. They didn't charge anything, and got me out of there in no time. Thats standing by your work. Thanks ECS once again.

I don't know. They told me all the newer pumps, i believe from 2009 on, have a sleeve on them to stop the water from causing water damage.

Yep,justed replaced my pump. Only about 3 years old but had no sleeve. Just remove the 2 4inch bolts out of the side and if they are rusty then you now you need to replace pump. New pump has sleeve so hope i get more years out of it
